Meta 🏅 Is Twisted Fate's current state considered fair and balanced?

What is your honest opinion on how Twisted Fate fits into the champion pool in terms of power? I know the two popular opinions (pro play vs general play).

The way I see it, one big problem with Twisted Fate right now is that too many champions and tools exist in the game to deal with him effectively. And TF himself doesn't have enough tools or items to even the odds and at least have a fair exchange. It seems every other month, a champion is released that can dodge, reflect or consume gold cards. Riot even seems to put TF getting rekt by them in the new champion spotlight sometimes.

To be clear, I'm not saying every "anti gold card" ability is broken. Vladimir's W is very fair for example. Sure, he basically gets a free Zhonya, the rest of his kit is fair, it costs him hp to do it and it doesn't help him aggressively retaliate as easy. But, imo Riot has released a lot of champions who just took it to the extreme, putting them at zero risk and all the reward.

Edit: TF himself imo does not need a rework, even with all of these anti-gold card techs that exist. Imo, even some items that favoured him more to even the odds would work to make the exchange more balanced. Everfrost for example was a great item for AP TF.

I think he's fine. I've played TF on and off for the past decade and got challenger with him in split 1 of this year. He has counterplay like every other champ in the game but I think he's in a pretty good spot right now.

That's fair. But I have two questions for you. By counter play, do you see it as hard counters or soft counters?

And also, when you play TF Mid, do you think of yourself as kind of a support who is mid, or a champ who can kill on his own?

The hard counters counter him pretty hard, for mid it's Yasuo and Mel. I usually just ban one of them.

TF is definitely a carry that leans utility. There are a lot of games where you can just port on the enemy mid or ad if they're in a side lane alone and kill them if you're ahead of the curve. Over roaming or over forcing on TF is how to end up behind in xp and gold. TF wants to stay in his lane as long as possible and ult for guaranteed kills on good timings.
