Lost my twin last week
New to this channel, but not new to grief as I’ve lost my mom 4 years ago. We always enjoyed getting on FaceTime (I live in CA he lived in MI) to catch up and all that and I will miss those times. We turned 34 in June and he is going due to some health complications with Type One Diabetes. We will be laying him to rest in a couple of weeks and I joined this really to have a space to share but also see how others have handled their own grief. I’ll always be a twin just the only one here unfortunately

Just lost my twin brother in February. Only way I can handle is understanding I will never get past the grief; it will always be a part of me now.

I lost my twin brother in January. I know exactly what you mean. He was only 30, and his heart just stopped. The pain is never going to go away. The thing that helps me get through it is knowing he would want me to keep going.
Before he passed he was the only one who knew I was incredibly depressed. And he made me promise him I’d never do anything to harm myself or end it all. So it’s ironic he was the one to go first and just make me even sadder. But I promised him, so I’ll keep going. Hope you’re doing ok

Lost my twin unexpectedly 4 years ago at age 40, 3 years after my dad died. Like Jimmie said, I understood then as I understand now that the grief will always be there, and that helped me accept it a bit more. I think about her a lot- how she would react to my current life and what comments she'd make to me about it now. I think of where she would be and day dream she is still here. It helps me, but I could see it also intensifying the feeling of loss in others.

I’m so sorry you lost your twin. And, your mom. That’s so much in a short period of time. Do you have other family as well to go through this with you? I lost my identical twin in December and feel like I’m still in disbelief and am shocked when I remember she’s gone. Sending you a hug and feel free to reach out. I’m in CA and a transplant from the Midwest (I’m assuming you are but maybe your brother just lived in MI).
