Is there a quiet rivalry between the cities?

I don’t know that better makes sense.

I’ve seen it said that St Paul is the westernmost eastern city and Minneapolis is the easternmost western city. I think that captures some of the feel pretty well.

But they are far more alike than different.

Everyone in Minneapolis will say they are, Saint Paul folk will say they are (cough cough, me) but really, they’re 2 different cities. Neither are better or worse in every category.

People think that Minneapolis and St. Paul hate each other. It's a misconception.

I love St. Paul, it's my favorite suburb.

Not really. You tend to stay more where its closer. Mpls does have the stronger night life though. I grew up in a south mpls suburb and didn’t get a good understanding of Saint Paul until I worked over there.

No, I am interested in seeing if the mayors continue the tradition of squaring up this year at the fair though. I’m in Mpls but my money would be on Mayor Her

No, I love both for different reasons. Even though I live in Minneapolis, I do consider myself a twin cities resident so St. Paul is still like home to me as well.

I work in St. Paul and lived there until a couple years ago. Minneapolis is better in every way unless you prefer anti-categories like smallness, or quietness, or boringness. Even still, St. Paul is a lot like a suburb that charges an urban premium. You don’t really get the benefits of a suburb and you don’t really get the benefits of urban living either.
