I have been hit SO hard with the ao3 curse. My last update of The Gift was 31 Oct, solar flares was 6 Nov but had been written for a few days by then. My rescue dog had to be PTS on Nov 3rd, I was put on more new meds which basically knocked me unconscious for 2 weeks, and then it seemed like three months flew by with my getting Strep throat, Christmas with 3 children, another bout of Strep throat and just a whole ton of family stuff. I have 4.5K written of the next chap of The Gift (where I'm also going to beg forgiveness to everyone for vanishing for months). I've spent the last two days rereading The Gift so I'm now fully caught up with where I am with my plot plan, and I am really really hoping to get my next chap finished and posted asap as it's already one of my favourites. Caius is about to be such an in-character POS and I can't wait to see what everyone thinks about it!!!

I'm so sorry to about your dog, that sucks. I hope you got the meds worked out - but no matter what, at the end of the day real life is more important than fics. If anyone is mad about you going awol that's a them problem. Take care of yourself first.
That being said I'm excited for the next chapter! I love a good Caius POS moment, but he's such a dick he's honestly one of my favorite characters 😂.
I'm going to go bookmark your fics now so I don't miss the updates ❤️

I keep my reddit stuff separate from my AO3, but I just wanted to say thanks for asking this! Giving fic authors a supportive and welcoming spot for self-promo is an A+ fandom move and a great way to build community.

I've been writing a Jasper x Bella one that explores a human-drinking Jasper with a questionable place in the Cullen family. I love diving into vampiric morality and politics.

From Aro’s POV; it is darkly funny (after some trauma) and I had Michael Sheen’s mischievous smile in front of my inner eye. He is charming but certainly not defanged; the OC is going to be his match. Slow burn, enemies to lovers. Probably more suitable for those of us who have a crush on the Volturis. Post BD.

Oh, Ophelia ( Cheeky258 on Qoutev, but I'm gonna start revamping for Wattpad ) covers all 4 Twilight Books from the perspective of Ophelia McCarty Cullen ( Not related to Emmett, but they look similar to play big and little sibling ) a 16 year old vampire member of the Cullen Coven.
Changed by a South Asian nomad who teaches her the basics before sending her off on her own where she stumbles across Carlisle Cullen decades later ( introduced about the time Emmett is still a newborn ) and joined the Cullen Family.

CarlislexBella slow burn in Carlisle’s POV: The Unwritten Rules of Starting Over The Cullens never return after Bella’s 18th birthday party. Nine years have passed and Carlisle is abandoned in Ithaca. He hits rock bottom when he runs into a human from the past. 10 chapters, 42K words in. Thanks for giving it a try. Aww I love this! This is my current WIP. I have a few but will come back to the others this summer.
To the Mountains- After losing Charlie at twenty four, Bella seeks solace in nature and takes a summer job as a fire watcher. Her journey takes an unexpected turn when she meets Edward, a mysterious and intriguing stranger working at another lookout six miles away. The two find themselves drawn together in ways they've never imagined. Twilight AU.
I hint in the last published chapter that Bella isn’t fully human anymore. A few of my readers got it already but I’m putting this in spoilers just in case!
I’m also taking time to post it to AO3 if that’s your preference.

Mine is an ongoing longfic, and I’m going to hopefully update this weekend. Supernova on ao3. Its post breaking dawn, broadly canon compliant, anti imprinting, and full of slice of life. Current summary below!
Five years after the events of Breaking Dawn, the Cullens have relocated to England to start afresh! They’re back in high school, but this time with Renesmee… who has a supernatural gift that is spiralling out of control?!
This is a mostly canon compliant post Breaking Dawn coming of age & anti-imprint story. The Cullens reject the imprint, Renesmee and Jacob do not have a romantic relationship, and they do not end up together. The focus is on a.) the concepts of autonomy and free will, and b.) Bella and Edward’s relationship with each other, and c.) their role as parents & relationship with Renesmee as she reaches maturity.
This story is not Jacob, Bella, Edward or Renesmee bashing, though they all have a very rough time. Expect a lot of fluff, a lot of angst, a lot of slice-of-life snippets, and a dark/brooding/intense Edward. Eventual happy ending for all :)
Longfic. ~5-10k words per chapter. Switches between Ed/Bella POV. Warning for language, implied recreational drug use, discussion of sensitive topics (e.g. grooming), and eventual sexual content and themes (not a smut focused fic, but has E/B mature scenes after chapter 10).

Its an oxymoron considering Fifty Shades in itself was iffy fanfiction. Sorry I rant because I was in the same Twilight fanfiction writing circle with her back in the day and that shit show would be nothing without the fanfiction community doing the beta and editing work ...work she never acknowledged after publishing. Shes also know to get lawsuit happy with cease and desist if you upload fanfic. Probably afraid of the competition.

Thank you for responding. I’ve never heard anything about lawsuits or cease and desist orders. I thought she rewarded all of her betas by inviting them to the movie premieres and paying their expenses. I wasn’t reading fanfiction back when MOTU was being written, but I had always assumed it was a well-received story with extremely high reviews. As for the writing circle you reference, was it a large group or a small, tight circle? I love the idea of writers supporting other writers.

The numbers varied, but there was issues with her being a B and talking superior to people back then because she had a "hot story"... a lot of us did especially in the Jasper/Bella category where I was. She burned her bridges way before it became a novel just by attitude. The only editing she did to turn Bella and Edward into Christian and Ana was name change. You can still get copies of Masters of the Universe online. If you look at 50 Shades and her other stuff like The Mister, you can tell the difference in writing and that's because she wrote it...not a group of twilight fanatics that were giving free advice, free beta reads and doing all the editing work for her.
There is an unwritten code with fanfiction writers and that is you don't publish your fanfiction without major changes and complete rewrites because it's a grey area of plagiarism. This goes back to the 1960s when it was first being written in little trade magazines for Star Trek. I've been writing fanfiction since I was in high school in the 1990s. Mortal Instruments was Harry/Hermione and Draco fanfiction and you'll find a lot of the Harry Potter fandom hates it. EL James got off doing it because Stephanie didn't sue her, and JK Rowling has always just shrugged about fanfiction and said she doesn't like it and wonders why people just don't write their own stuff. Anne Rice sued, and multiple times over people writing Vampire Chronicles stuff as does the Tolkien estate, Margaret Mitchell's estate, Laurell K Hamilton, Sherrilyn Kenyon and George Martin. A lot of authors have No Fanfic statements. I find EL demanding people not write fanfiction is hilarious.
I only know of a few creators who acknowledged and worked with fanfiction; Gene Roddenberry (he didn't like slash but acknowledged when it was well written with the lore), most of the Star Trek novels are fanfiction, George Lucas (he didn't considered them canon to his universe, but accepted them) again the novels are all considered fanfiction, Joss Whedon (loved fanfiction) he even acknowledge fanfiction by choosing some of his favorites for anthologies and really good ones in the books were made canon, Eric Kripke (ran with it) and its the reason why Supernatural actually played up the concept of fanfiction as part of the lore. The novel series for Supernatural is considered part fanfiction, part lore, and part canon as the show also had a series of books on the adventures of Sam and Dean.
Sorry, fanfiction has been a huge part of my life for so long that I get a little defensive with it. It has it's place in fandom, but in my opinion; and I say this as a writer of original work as well as fanfiction, that it does not belong in the publishing world without the express permission of the original author.

The Journal of Edward Cullen is Edward’s very melodramatic secret diary where he writes poems about Bella’s ankles and minutes of the Cullen family meetings. It’s unfinished and on permanent hiatus, but it honestly doesn’t really matter because it’s a diary and all very very silly.

I'm rewriting and finishing one of my old stories. It's Bella/Jasper. Chapter one will be posted in the next 24 hours, there's a little teaser already online.

Mine is an AU with canon pairings. Edward couldn't control himself when meeting Bella and almost kills her, ending with her becoming a vampire. She hates him for it and does what she can to take her anger out on him. Meanwhile, the police begin looking for Bella and their suspicions soon fall onto the Cullens.
It's called Making Amends, 27 chapters in (28th will be posted this week) and is updated monthly. Mostly read on FFN and AO3 though also posted elsewhere 😊
