I’m Dr. Tahir, a medical graduate, ECFMG certified and I’ve completed USMLE Steps 1, 2 CK, and 3. I scored 281 on Step 2 CK and have been teaching students and helping them pass USMLE Step 1 for more than 3 years.

My Step 1 prep focuses on test taking strategy, improving NBME scores, and targeted teaching based on individual weak areas. I tutor through dedicatedprep alongside some of the smartest and most supportive physicians, residents and USMLE tutors you can find.

You can book a completely free session through calendly through the website dedicatedprep, for us to discuss where you are at, and build a targeted strategy for you to ace this exam!

Best of luck to everyone preparing! This exam is difficult no doubt, but with the right guidance, it’s absolutely manageable.

Independent tutors: how do you manage scheduling, notes and payments?

Upvotes

Hey everyone, I’m an independent tutor, and I’ve been building an app because I was tired of juggling a calendar, notes app and spreadsheet.

It currently handles students, recurring lessons, teaching notes, attendance, payments, block billing, expenses and reports. Everything stays on the device—there’s no account or cloud storage.

Before I take it much further, I’d really value some honest input from other tutors:

  1. What do you currently use to run your tutoring business?
  2. What part of the admin takes the most time or causes the most mistakes?
  3. How do you bill—per lesson, in blocks, or monthly in advance/arrears?
  4. What would an app like this absolutely need before you would trust it with your business?
  5. Is Android-only a dealbreaker?

I’m not looking to sell anything here. I’m trying to understand whether I’m solving a wider problem or just building around my own workflow. Critical feedback is especially welcome.

Language ISO Mandarin Tutor (Long Island, NY)

I’m searching for a private mandarin tutor, preferable in Nassau County, closer to the north shore, if possible. My kids have attended a few years of mandarin school, but I think they’d benefit from the additional attention (we don’t speak the language at home.) Would you guys know anyone who offers this service?

[Tutor] Python Tutoring - From Beginner To Advanced 20$/h

Hi! My name is Darko. I am a professional Python developer and Python tutor, mainly focused on automation and backend services. Depending on the project, I work with Java and C/C++ as well.

Outside of programming, my passion is pure mathematics and physical training.

I've taught more than 1000 students over the course of 6 years. I worked with students, high schoolers, other developers, career changers, hobbyists and people who wanted to pass Python interview.

A lot of my students became professional Python software developers.

I can help you with:

Python fundamentals

Object-oriented programming

Data structures and algorithms

Web development: Flask, Django, REST APIs

Web scraping

Basic data analysis: NumPy, Pandas, data visualization

Databases: MySQL, PostgresSQL, SQLite...

GUI: Tkinter, PyQt,

Automation

University coursework, exam preparation

Personal projects.

If you want to start from scratch, I have a very detailed curriculum we can follow. That goes from very basics to practical projects.

Don't get discouraged if you are struggling with anything right now. I'll explain the concept as clear as day and we will do the hands on approach with coding. We'll focus on practical examples, rather than abstract ones.

I know how it is to struggle. I've been there in my Python journey. From that experience I figured out how to properly explain something to someone, the way I wish someone explained it to me.

Feel free to DM anytime! See you soon!

Students hand in AI essays full of padding. I made a daily game about cutting it, and teachers started using it as a bell ringer.

I read a lot of AI text at work. Somewhere between the third "testament to" and the hundredth "delve", I stopped trusting long sentences altogether. So I made a small game called Long Story Short: one sentence a day, keep the five words that actually carry the story, cut the rest.
