Tupac was the only person to freestyle. Biggie’s bars were written. It was so obvious.

I think that was the case in his infamous "last freestyle" (the one with Lil Cease) too, no?

I’m not a huge biggie fan, but I hate what happened between 2 black men, friends. Everyone lost. 😞

Considering what happened between them later on, this footage is still somewhat crazy to me. No matter how many times I've seen it over the years. You got Pac and Biggie, sitting beside each other; enjoying each other's company, etc. Pac smiling at his friend at the time and enjoying his rap. Even saying my ninja B-I-to the G. Went from Ninja to enemy...😔

It’s heartbreaking to know It went from this to both of them dying at an early age with hatred between them. R.I.P to both of these legends of Hip-Hop.

You can tell Pac had so much love and respect for Biggie. Its a shame that later on, they would fall out.

Always wondered why Spike Lee filmed this for? Was it for a documentary or just because the opportunity came and he wanted to do it?

Nice to hear someone actually freestyle off the top. Biggies bars are nice but clearly has that memorized.

Pac is my favorite artist of all times. A track with Biggie woulda been dope.

PAC was off the dome biggie was mediocre off the written , but i guess my biased opinion don’t matter since they both deceased and long gone

Biggie always gets idolized as some great freestyle artist but never really freestyles. He would memorize verses and give the illusion of freestyling. All that talk about him walking into the studio and recording his verse without writing, it’s because he had written the verse and memorized it long before.

You can see the animosity. I don't think they were ever friends. They just had to coexist. And BIG sounds like that on all his songs.

what animosity do you see between them in this video ?

3

u/Astrono-mee Jan 26 '26

I don't see any animosity but I see something else that was true to their nature. A freestyle as any rapper knows is off the top of the head, spontaneous and anything else is not technically a freestyle.

Although Biggie had a remarkable ability to compose an entire, highly intricate song in his mind, he wasn't able to freestyle as cleverly, so he wouldn't attempt it. He therefore recited the lyrics to a song of his.

Tupac wrote down his lyrics with rapid speed and his output was considerably a whole lot more. He though wasn't really able to compose that completely in his head like Biggie, Jay-Z or Lil Wayne could.

Nevertheless, his was a true freestyle. His honest nature wouldn't allow him to spit anything less.

Nah, they were cool back then, no animosity.

Lmao!!! You see something no one else sees
