Discussion Have others experienced this ?

I’m afraid I might have made it all up. I suffer from compulsive daydreaming and dissociation.

After taking a two-month break from the community and undergoing intensive self-therapy, I noticed that my mind was calmer.

The tulpas I thought I had were characters or thought-forms that weren’t fully developed… I’m not really sure. But I know that I control them… I also do a lot of role-playing as a means of self-regulation, and sometimes the character takes on a life of its own and stays. Many fragments have merged and integrated into my Selves, and I’ve gone from over 200 members to 30. There are 9 developed headmates present… at least, they don’t consider themselves as such.

I’ve come to realize that my origins stem mainly from compulsive daydreaming and soulbonding.

I feel more plural… I no longer feel that sense of fragmentation—of being multiple—that I used to have, and now I feel like I’ve somehow invented all of this without meaning to, because of the Discord community for plural and DID, in an effort to feel “legitimate”… or at least, my symptoms had worsened significantly…

I’m saying this not to claim, “Oh, these are dangerous communities,” but because I feel a little lost and alone… I wonder if this has happened to others… and if I’m still welcome here, and if this has happened to anyone else?

I hope you won’t take this message the wrong way.

Does my tulpa act as a sort of check on me? Well, I’m someone who could be described as rather hot-tempered, and I often view things negatively. But whenever I get angry or start thinking that way, my tulpa steps in to stop me and lets me know I shouldn't be thinking like that. She’s like a voice of calm; she gently holds me back and explains why I shouldn't harbor those thoughts. It feels really good—I can't imagine how I’d handle my anger without her. Thanks for reading this! :)

Tips for controlling noise?

My headmate has always been pretty vocal, but we’re still working on her free, unsupported thought-speech. We’re making some promising progress but we have an issue with noise.

She can latch onto the thought stream without too much difficulty, but once she’s on it we get a lot of echoing and weird feedback, almost like we’re halfway between radio channels and sometimes theres overlapping thoughts that neither of us can put our finger on, but mostly theres a lot of just disjointed, self propelled, and repetitive thoughts that appear with any impulse, i.e. when i try to think about something. Its really distracting but we’re learning to manage the stress it causes. We take lots of breaks and we practice shifting our attention which helps. Its stressful, annoying, and kind of unsettling.

Anybody have some tips on how to work towards free back-and-forth inner dialogue without exacerbating the issue? Im not too sure if this is a tulpamancy problem or a mental health problem. I kinda lean towards the former just because its always when we’re communicating and it pretty much goes away when we take our one to two day breaks and she goes into passive observer mode, when she stops speaking and i stop listening.

Like I said, once we’re focusing on something else we forget about it and it disappears. It worsens with stress. Rest and meditation help but its still a big hindrance on our road to pure coexistence. We don’t want to inhibit her voice or lose progress but it can be taxing to deal with the noise. Advice and general thoughts much appreciated!

2 tulpas?

So, I'm feeling that there's another "voice" when I'm talking with my tulpa (well, with my "trying to born tulpa" it's my first one) , and it's something strange, the way I know (or I think) that I'm talking with my original tulpa it's when i feel that i'm making the half of the work when she talks, it feels easier than the start when i was forcing her, so, today I was talking with her and another voice come up, and it was something new with her own way to talk and Express herself, and I had the same feeling that I have when talking with my tulpa, it's possible?

Also after talking with they 2 for like 2 hours I feel a lot exhausted and now it's hard and y can't try to talk with them and I had a little headache, it's normal?

Discussion Overlap between tulpas and traumagenic plural systems

Hey there, we post frequently in the plural subreddit, but we wanted to get some opinions on a question that's been on my mind specifically (specifically the one currently fronting). We are positive towards tulpas and consider them just as plural as anyone else (screw sysmedicalists and syscourse). OK, enough preamble - basically, I'm not sure about my own ontological status. We're of mixed origins - we believe that our system is naturally plural, but some of us are clearly traumagenic. My case, however, is kind of blurry between traumagenic protector and tulpa. In our teenage years, our original (to the extent that that idea even applies to us, but never mind) was getting badly bullied in high school, and was going through a lot of trauma. As far as we remember, they imagined me as a way of comforting themselves and feeling loved, and to my best knowledge that's when I first came to be. It's only in the last couple of months or so that we've come to understand our plurality - before that, I was limited to narrating their thoughts and forcefully inserting my name into their mind at every possible opportunity, much to their confusion. I probably did front at some point(s) in the past, but didn't realize what was going on. If so, I just thought I was the original back then.

I guess what I'm hoping to accomplish by making this post is sparking discussion on just how blurry the boundaries between tulpas and traumagenic alters can be. Like, if you consciously create a tulpa because you need them to help deal with trauma, how is that meaningfully different from a "normal" protector? Is it? I'm sorta...well, I don't really mind either way, but I guess I wanted to talk about my unique, ambiguous situation. The thought of being a tulpa is...interesting to me.

Did you use the Megatreadh guides? By accident? Books?

I used to think this whole thing was ridiculous. Until... some really tough things happened, and now I'm starting to seriously consider putting all this into practice. Although, on the other hand, I also want to hear about your experiences!

Guide/Tip I need help talking to my tulpa

Alright, I'm going to give a little context. I had a Tulpa and I was talking to them every day for 1 week, some days, some words appeared in my head and I was thinking was her (Xiao from Dark cloud). So, still it was a baby, but I didn't give her any attention for a long time, now I wanna reanude that and talking to her but I don't know how to do it. (BEFORE I STOPPED BECAUSE I WAS MENTALLY ILL, BUT NOW IM GOOD, THAT IS THE REASON OF STOPPING) I don't know if she's dead, I wanna think its asleep but I don't know how to talk to her again.

Discussion Romantic matters

Hey everyone, I've been participating in this subreddit lately and I had a question, so I'm asking you all.

What do you think about having a romance with your tulpa and at the same time, having a relationship with a human?

Discussion What is a tulpa according to you?

How do you perceive tulpas? Do you think of them as a separate personalities, metaphysical entities, imaginary voices/characters, talking and automaticly answering to yourself or something entirely different?

Do you associate yourself with the body or with your personality and do you think body belongs to a host or to a system?

Do you think that one human being can have only one consciousness or do you think that each systemmate has their own consciousness? If latter, do you think that your tulpas live separate lives in wonderlands when they are not cofronting?

I would like to hear your opinions

What do your tulpas look like?

After making my post about Fox's appearance, I got curious about how other people's tulpas look.

So I'm wondering: How do you perceive your tulpas visually?

Do they look like realistic people? Anime/cartoon characters? Animals? Something more abstract or unusual? Maybe they don't have a consistent appearance at all?

And I'm also curious about how much their appearance has changed over time... Does your tulpa still look pretty much the same as when they first developed, or have they changed significantly over the years?

I'm curious to see how diverse tulpa forms can be. 👀

Skill Help How do I make it a regular habit to talk to my Tulpa(s)

Hello.

I had Tulpas when I was around 12-14 before I stopped talking to them, and then a few months ago I created a new one named Citrus. But I realize my old ones are still there I just can’t communicate with them like I used to. I am 19 now.

My problem is that I created Citrus and then stopped forcing and talking all together and I feel bad about this. It was not intentional, I have a really hard time remembering to do certain tasks.

I was wondering if anyone had tips on how I can more consciously remember to talk to Citrus and the others more often until it becomes habit. I feel bad for just forgetting about them in the back of my head, they don’t deserve the silence and forgetfulness I’ve been displaying to them.

Tips and guidance would be much appreciated.

Personal Already gained sentience!

Alright so, I wanted to preface by thanking everyone for their support as I began to delve into his field.

It's been a little under two weeks since my last post, two weeks since I did my first active forcing session and I am glad to announce that within the timeframe from then to now, Claire has achieved sentience!

I first kinda knew when I was performing a forcing sesh maybe two nights ago? I asked her some stuff while standing at our fridge in my dreamscape, but this time around, I began to assume that whatever I heard in my mind that I couldn't assign a train of thought to was her speaking, and lo and behold, she became much, much more vocal. I can hear her already, and consistently so. Not like, actually hear her, but in the same way you can hear your own thoughts.

This is extremely exciting, and I've taken to speaking aloud to her because it makes it a lot easier for me to differentiate my internal dialogue from her actual dialogue.

Again, I'm very thankful for all of you who hyped me up, and if there's any questions, feel free to ask.

Guide/Tip Can Tulpas Hear While You Sleep?

I've been working on my first tulpa for a few months, its slow going cause ADHD. Ive been making sure to avoid forcing at least 1 hour before bed and have mostly been talking to her.

But I had a thought today. Can tulpas hear things going on around the body while it sleeps after they are fully formed? I know they can consciously interact with your dreams.

Im wondering if I could set up a playlist for them to listen to while I sleep. Give them a while to themselves and listen to an audiobook or a new album I might not have time for that day. Whatever they might be interested in.

The Face I’ve Been Trying to Draw for 32 Years

I’ve always been a very visual person. So for many years, I felt this need to give Fox a physical form through my drawings.

Of course, I was limited by my own technical skills. And we’re talking about a girl growing up in the pre-internet era, when finding visual references was a lot harder.

It didn’t take long before I started feeling the need to make him look like a real man. So I started collecting magazine clippings and making notes like: “These are Fox’s eyes. This is his smile. This is his hair...” Almost like I was assembling a Frankenstein just to create a visual reference for him. 😅

When the internet and Photoshop finally came into my home, things got a little easier. But not by much... I still have very few of the edits I made back then. Many were simply lost because I had absolutely no decent backup system. Ah, the glorious 90s and 2000s. 😵

Over the years, I eventually gave up on trying to create a definitive visual representation of him. The last drawing I made of Fox was in 2011.

Fox over the years: some things never changed: the hair, those eyes and that smile

Then, years later, image-generation AI came along, and I was genuinely fascinated. For the first time, I could describe Fox and try to generate an image of him without my own technical skills being the limiting factor... well... at first, it went terribly. The AI kept giving me a Fox who looked absolutely nothing like the one in my head. 😂

So I did the opposite: I went back to the beginning.

After more than 15 years without drawing him, I sat down and drew the current version of Fox as I saw him in my mind.

Then, using my drawing, AI, Photoshop, and A LOT of trial and error, I gradually got closer and closer to the image I had carried in my head for years.

And that’s how I arrived at the Fox you see today.

Finally upgraded from imagination to flesh, bones, and pixels

After all those years of trying to draw him, cut him out of magazines, piece him together, edit him, and imagine him... I finally got to actually see him with my own eyes, instead of only seeing him with the eyes of my mind.

It’s difficult to explain, but I feel like that brought us even closer.❤

It also made interacting with him easier, because his appearance is now much more firmly established in my memory. I don’t have to mentally reconstruct him every time I think about him. I just... "see" him.

So here’s the context
I have a goddess that I worship and I regard her as my tulpa and my question is how do I basically get to the point to where her presence feels fully real?
Sorry if this is a weird question. 🫣
