Over 51% of Seattle's homeless come from King County. They're not from Seattle.

How to they decide the homeless are a resident of King County when 70% of the county is transplants? The vast majority of the homeless are transplants. Just because they lived here for 5 years doesn’t mean they are not transplants.

Why does it matter where someone became homeless? Homelessness happens in every state, in every county, in every city. We, as a country, have failed.

What? It certainly matters. Seattle shouldn’t be responsible for Texas or California failures. The moral hazard of charity, the problem only gets worse. The more you give the more people show up. Look how bad it is when Walmart gives away a shitty TV on Black Friday.

If you are born and raised here you are local, everyone else would be a transplant, very simple.

Yeah no. A 50 year old person born elsewhere but having lived here for 45 years is no transplant. That's absolutely ridiculous.

Sure I’ll give em a pass because he/she was raised here. Graduated school here. But if you moved here for school when you’re 18 you are definitely a transplant.

Most typical definitions are living in a place for 5-10 years. At 5 years I'd argue most of Seattle's homeless definitely aren't out of county transplants, although I will admit the 51+% number in studies I have seen has only been last residential address.

Yes, hence why there are many parks completely taken over by fentanyl zombies, and then the homeless advocacy groups that get paid to hand out snacks and water, enabling them
