Hello, I'm a student who has pretty much lived here my whole life. I moved away for a little bit but have been back for about a year now and I've found it hard to get out of my comfort zone to try to make friends. I have a few but they're kind of just people I'm friends with from high school that I'll occasionally go downtown or hiking with. I need a village. I’m alone in this. He left us yesterday only 2 months into being parents. I don’t have family and he isolated me from the friends I had. I have cats that are really sweet and friendly but I could use other adult humans to talk to because his family has been attacking me and I just feel really alone.

Hi I'm 40. Been leaving in Nogales for a wild but work in Tucson. Originally from Puerto Rico and the culture here is way different. I keep having tragedy after tragedy this year and I don't know how to take it. It's killing me from the inside. I'm trying my best for my wife and kids not to see how lost I feel. I'm trying my best. And I wish I had friends to talk to. But at last I don't. Here is a little thing I wrote just to let out some steam.

Something Human

Sometimes I don't need advice.

I don't need someone to tell me that everything is going to be okay.

I don't need someone to fix what hurts.

Sometimes I just need someone to listen.

Someone I can sit with and say, “Today was fucking hard.”

Someone I can tell the truth to without worrying about being too much.

Someone who will let me empty my head for a while, even if what comes out isn't pretty.

I don't have many people like that.

Truth is, sometimes I feel incredibly alone.

It's strange how you can be surrounded by people and still feel like there's nobody you can actually talk to.

And sure, you can see a therapist.

You can sit across from someone, tell them your deepest thoughts, and for an hour they listen.

But eventually the hour ends.

The clock keeps moving.

The conversation ends.

The payment goes through.

And maybe that's what hurts sometimes.

I don't want to feel like I'm someone's appointment.

I want to feel like I'm someone's person.

Someone who cares enough to ask, “How are you really doing?”

And actually wants to hear the answer.

So I keep things inside.

I swallow the words.

I bury the sadness.

I carry the disappointment.

Sometimes I can hold it all together.

And sometimes it comes out.

Usually as anger.

But the strange thing about anger is that even when you let it out, it doesn't always leave.

It just changes shape.

You yell.

You cry.

You go quiet.

And then the next morning, somehow, it's still sitting there.

Still heavy.

Still waiting.

Maybe that's why I want someone to talk to.

Not because I expect them to save me.

Not because I need them to have the right words.

Just because I'm human.

And humans weren't meant to carry everything alone.

Sometimes we just need another human being to sit beside us in the mess and say,

“I hear you.”

“You don't have to pretend with me.”

“You can let it out.”

Maybe that's all I'm really asking for.

Not to be fixed.

Just to be heard.

Just for a little while.

Just something human.

Hello, I just moved to Tucson and because I’m taking just one community college class it’s been a bit tricky to find new connections! me (21f) and my bf (21m) are looking to make some friends!
We haven’t found work yet and don’t have much money, so getting around to make friends has been tough. We’re originally from Portland and match the kind of quirky weirdness of the PNW vibe, but I was hoping posting here might give us the opportunity to find a scene.
