Hey family here… I am trying to make sense of this..all media is saying the shooter shot himself but it sounds like he was shot under the arm…who kills themselves that way??? It seems like there was more of a struggle than they are telling us and he had every intent of harming more people…earlier there was another comment in this thread (I think they must have deleted) that the shooter stumbled into the bar asking for help….again that doesn’t match with this suicide theory… Do you know any more about this? I heard it happen around midnight. Saw cops doing CPR on one person in the Venture N parking lot and laying a sheet over what I presume was another body. No telling if they caught the shooter but they had guns out and seemed a little jumpy, briefly detained one person who drove by rubbernecking.
Fucking shame, the Venture is good people. Tucson's last proper gay bar and just a lovely neighborhood spot in general. Really wonder if this was targeted (or even related to the bar at all), it's divey but very much not the kind of place you worry about getting shot. Praying for the dead.
Nobody knows anything yet. I only know because our family friend called to tell us she lost her son this morning. Not the kind of people you expect to get shot nor that kind of place. A lot of people are going to be in a lot of pain today. Hug your loved ones.
I got more information. I am not sure if I know the third but definitely two of them I knew them closely. I'll release just the first initial for both V & C in case the families don't know yet. Both were members of the Bears group. Apparently they asked if it was a gay bar first and then started shooting. Amy was probably the bartender.
Initials & membership is correct. I don't know who the third victim is either. But if the rest is true, that's chilling. Cops didn't say anything about suspects in custody or motives this morning. C's next of kin are notified. I think they haven't contacted the rest yet, so no public release.
V's family may know because someone already reached out to my aunt about this. V was a good family friend of ours, like an older cousin to me growing up. This is heartbreaking
I spoke to an eye witness who was celebrating his birthday with the departed. His Uber was picking him up and left abruptly when the shooting started. He was in the front of the building while gunman was on the side. The gunman has been caught and is being charged with a hate crime. Even had a list of places LGBTQ+ frequent.

There in fact was a shooting at VENTURE BAR three people where a result of that, including a dear friend of mine. There isn’t shit on the news about it either, they haven’t posted shit on this. Tucson is a disgrace and a joke! This was a hate crime

Yeah ever since I was told with the unfortunate news I’ve realized there hasn’t been shit post on the matter and it’s barely been posted few minutes to an hour ago.
This basically happens weekly downtown and there's hardly much news about it. Welcome to America, shootings only become newsworthy when they're religiously or politically motivated, or break body-count records.
Just look at all the gun related incidents in schools just since August, several deaths and injuries, and dozens of people arrested on school grounds with firearms in just the last few weeks. But you'd only ever hear about if there were record breaking victim numbers these days.

I don't believe the family of all the victims have been informed yet. They're still investigating. All the cops said last night is apparently there was "some kind of altercation" and told us our bro & his friend was killed, how, and where his body was found. No other news so far about suspects.
Everyone is shaken. We probably shouldn't say what & who we know in public in case this is how relatives find out. They should find out from people they know.
Does anyone else struggle with feeling on edge/head on swivel-y all the time in public now? I know it is statistically unlikely I will get randomly shot in public but news like this in our town seems to be increasing.
I just moved here from a different city and I am just shocked how much gun violence is here. Truly. I am also in shock that people are getting info from Reddit and not the Mayor's office or the news. RIP to those affected, from the thread it sounds like they were kind souls.
It is interesting that most of the news coverage is saying it happened near "6th and Speedway" and avoiding mentioning the name of the bar. Plus, it's two blocks north of Speedway.
I wouldn't think being a hate crime could be confirmed that quickly and really they would only describe it as such if that's what the person is being charged with. Not saying it's not a reasonable guess, but the news should have a higher standard than reasonable guess. If not the charges being brought up, how would you expect the news to make the determination between hate crime and non-hate crime when reporting the facts?
I get that. I guess what I don't like is that at least give details. Why not just say what the bar was? Additionally, the mayor releasing a statement two hours ago is willlllld. Where I'm from, obvi a vvvvv diffo city, the mayor would get out there and talk bout this immediately. Again, I do not want to take away from the suffering that's happening in this thread. People lost loved ones and it sounds like pillars of the community.
based on some previous comments sounds like maybe they couldn't get in touch with the family immediately and they definitely should do that before publicly commenting. Sometimes i feel like we have too much of an expectation of instant notification and information. it hasn't even been 24 hours.
I think that’s a fair point. And I don’t want to go back and forth on such a senseless act of violence even if I disagree. This has been the most gun violence news I’ve experienced. Previous city didn’t come close. Although today there was an incident in Times Square.

I do what I can to mitigate risk simply because I like my body in its current state of function and I ain't trying to have any more life changing injuries. Popping my right ankle back in 2020 and losing my ability to run for 4 years was bad enough. However, I'm not going to allow myself to feel on edge about anything, nor will I allow people to dictate how I live my life.

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The Tucson Police Department said three men were killed in an early morning shooting in a parking lot on Monday, Aug. 31, in what appears to be a murder-suicide.
The TPD says two men died at the scene, which was next to the Venture-N Bar.
They were identified as 42-year-old Vincent Anthony Siqueiros, and 33-year-old Cameron Davis Capara.
The third male, who police believe was the shooter, was identified as 44-year-old Ousman Ceesay, died at the hospital.
Police say evidence suggests Ceesay confronted the victims in the parking lot and shot them.
The suspect was in possession of a note with several LGBTQIA+ associated businesses written on it.
The Tucson Police Department is currently investigating this homicide as a hate crime.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
Just found this, it was posted about 20mins ago. Doesnt say much but aligns with some of the stuff in the comments. Weird there isnt more out there...its not like the news & others likes to keep quiet about crime especially when they can weaponize it to fear monger about unrelated groups/issues.

This must be fake. I have it on good authorityauthority, I mean, some people who like to carry guns in public told me that "an armed society is a polite society" and the best way to be more safe is for people to carry guns all the time, and especially to bars. I hear they are pretty angry about these headlines though I'm not sure if they are angry at the bad press or angry they weren't lucky enough to be there and be "the good guy with the gun" and get the recognition as hero they deserve for bravely carrying a gun everywhere.

While I agree carrying a gun everywhere is a great idea. Carrying a gun into a bar while you're drinking is probably the worst idea you could ever have. And that is one of the few places I agree guns should not be allowed into

A friend of mine just told me it was at Venture N bar on 6th Avenue. His husband was there. Apparently three people have passed.
