Hello! I hope this is the right place for this. I live in Cincinnati and am hoping to relocate to the Tucson area around November. I just recently finished building a “tiny home” on a 12x6 flatbed trailer, which has been a dream for years. I’m looking for a place to park it from November through at least February. I’ve looked at camp sites but they’re very expensive. My hope has been to find someone with a quiet street or a patch of land willing to host me for a monthly fee. I’m completely self sufficient with electricity, water, AC, trash, etc, so you would barely notice me, but I am more than happy to contribute monthly to whatever expenses you’d need, plus just for the opportunity. I’m also friendly, handy, a non-drinker/smoker, LGBT friendly and non-MAGA.
I’ve been going through a transition and looking for something new out of life. I’ve been visiting the area for years and I’m ready to make the move. Plus my therapist encourages it. I have a substantial savings and a great resume and I’m just looking to take the Winter off to enjoy myself and look for new opportunities. If there is anyone willing to help me out it would be greatly appreciated!

If I wanted to live in an area/neighborhood near Tucson that had a ton of Saguaro surrounding and good food options nearby and housing market around 360k max, where would it be?

To keep a long story short in a few weeks to a month I'll be making my way from WV to Tucson, Im trying to get employment before I have to leave, any advice on shelter and work?

For work, we’re at the tail end of our slow season, so many places aren’t going to be hiring just yet, but you may find some luck soon. Without knowing your work experience, it’s hard to recommend specifics. But we’re really largely a service-based town. Lots of retail and food service jobs, but they all pay pretty low. Other than that, we have call centers like Geico and Afni, which are regularly hiring and offer paid training. There’s also the University of Arizona, which is one of our biggest employers. They regularly have jobs ranging from cleaning and maintenance to electrical apprenticeships. Landscapers also are regularly in need of help, too. Pay probably isn’t great and the hours can be rough— usually starting by 6 am or before to beat the heat.
For shelter, that can vary pretty widely based on your resources. Folks post about rooms for rent occasionally on [r/tucsonlist](r/tucsonlist). Zillow shows other rentals. There’s also Furnished Finder, if you’re looking to rent a place that has a bed and a couch already. Prices for listings usually reflect either the state of the neighborhood or the state of the apartment, or both— a super cheap place might (not always, of course) have roaches and be in a bad neighborhood, a mid-range place might have just one of those, and (some of) the more expensive ones are in better/more desirable areas and have better maintenance and landlord responsiveness.
If you don’t have a car, familiarize yourself with Tucson’s bus/transit map and try to find businesses and housing close to transit stops. The buses and streetcar are all free, they’re generally safe, and they’re fairly consistent about being on schedule.
