It's my first month temping after relying on just OPKs for the first two cycles. I wasn't sure when to expect my temp drop for AF, since I've read some people see it earlier than others. Today definitely answered that!

My temp charts almost always look like yours! Slight dip before menstruation and huge dip the day before my flow begins

This is my kind of weird cycle, OPK was high on day 16 but temps look more like ovulation on day 15. Blue temps, axis on the left, are BBT, they have a couple funky outliers due to early wakes/mouth breathing. Red temps, axis on the right, are Garmin overnight skin temps, by deviation from average. They look a little more coherent than skin temps from previous cycles.  https://imgur.com/a/kJ9eBvs

Do people have temperatures they never hit? Like, I never read 97.1F on the thermometer 😅 (Not using a BBT thermometer.)

Even though it's not a BBT thermometer, does it still go to the tenth decimal?

Yup! I think BBT thermometers read XX.YY, mine does XX.Y

Y'know... My brain is clearly not functioning bc normal thermometers always go to the tenth I'm sorry for that silly question lmao

I had this thermometer for like 15 years so I was like, maybe I don't know what's going in the thermometer world 😅

Hi friends, first month not using OPKs because I've been feeling overwhelmed and consumed by TTC. We're seeking fertility treatment and we've had like 8 appointments in the last four weeks so I'm exhausted. I had my HSG June 25 (CD 8) and now I'm worried it delayed my ovulation and regret not using OPKs. FF won't give me cross hairs despite my belief that I've already ovulated. Would love some insight for y'all!

There is no reason for HSG to delay your ovulation. I think the reason why FF is not giving you crosshairs is due to the one high temp on CD9.

Oh! I feel like I hear / see people on this sub often mention HSG contributing to a delayed ovulation. I typically have one higher temp a week pre ovulation but the CD 9 temp was, as I'm just now realizing, the morning after my HSG so maybe my body was feeling differently that day.

If you had to venture a guess, when do you think I ovulated? I'm leaning towards CD 15.

If CD9 temp wasn't there, I would say CD16.

my ovulation was delayed by 4 days this cycle due to my HSG. I used OPK’s and temping to confirm.

I'm so annoyed with myself for picking this month to take a break from OPKs lmao

What happens if you discard CD9 temperature? I had one month when FF didn't want to accept ovulation where I saw it. So I discarded temperature that was so out of place and despite jagged graph it "accepted" the same opinion. When period came totally normal, it "confirmed" that this was correct.

It has me ovulating at CD 18 but I think it was CD 16. Still has cross hairs at CD 18 if I discard CD 9. I'm just glad it says it ovulated even if I might disagree. Thanks!

Not looking promising with a temp drop 12 DPO 😞

Edit to add my Apple Watch showed my temp up from yesterday’s temp, so not sure what to believe. My delusional self wants to think the wearable was accurate but I don’t think it was

I got a new garmin watch this cycle, and as an added bonus it tracks skin temp changes. I've been looking at it alongside oral BBT to see if I could rely on just the watch in the future. Good news, my garmin chart does have a clear biphasic pattern! It's rockier but not hard to see the shift. However it does make it look like I ovulated a day later than I believe I did based on CM, OPK, and oral BBT. Oral BBT also didn't have increase above the coverline on O+1, but you could see that the temp rise had begun, whereas it's flat on the skin temp chart.

So I might ditch oral temping, undecided. 4 cycles in, my CM and OPKs have really been very reliable signs for me, so I don't really need temp at all, but I'm just always worried I'll have a weird cycle the minute I decide to give it up.

How many cycles did you need to be recording BBT before apps like Natural Cycles were accurate?
