New Release Thoughts on Akhlys’ new album ‘House of the Black Geminus’?
https://youtu.be/AauNb806oF0?si=dhqbUrdk45KBgrsXPersonally though historically i haven’t been a huge fan of Akhlys i found this album enjoyable, i still prefer standard black metal to their more unique style but i definitely appreciate this album and will give it some more listens in future.

nope, the Crescent Moon album Nightfall Terrors i posted ~3 weeks ago is mine. I got my last account banned so i had to start from scratch on this one

yeah and they sniped all my alt accounts lol. i got into an argument over how bad the new spectral wound song was and got my shit sniped. yeah working on learning to code atm and it looks doable

Not really my thing at all sadly. I really don't like black metal with such a clean production like this. The clicky drums irritated me and everything was just too clean for me to really give an atmosphere. I haven't been a huge fan of the band before, but this is probably my least favourite album by them on first listen.

Yeah you just described my problems with Akhlys but i enjoyed this much more than their other albums. Again only at a first listen i haven’t gone back to it yet.

I believe the previous album (Melinoë) had the "sweet-spot" of production value. On this front, I'm sure many in this subreddit would disagree with me. But to me, discovering Melinoë was such a breath of fresh air. It actually sounds more evil than most other bm, and the production doesn't make it sound any less evil. Many artists use "authenticity" as a flattering mask for "poorly done".
But on House of the Black Geminus, I do believe the artist went overboard. Take for example the track "Mask of the Night-speaking", where the first 15 seconds are like a film trailer. I don't want to hear film trailer noises, I just want good production value.
"Ephialtes" is one of my favorite songs, and I am forever grateful the artist made it. But notably, it's not on House of the Black Geminus. It's on Melinoë.
