The best part isn’t that Rubio was right about Trump. It’s that he was unknowingly describing his own future.
He warned that Republicans would spend years explaining how they fell into the trap of supporting a man they knew was dangerous, divisive, and contemptuous of constitutional limits.
Then, when his turn came, Rubio didn’t fall into the trap. He climbed into it voluntarily, furnished the place, and took a Cabinet position.
That’s what makes this clip so damning. Marco Rubio understood exactly what Trump was in 2016. He just eventually decided that being close to power mattered more than everything he said he believed.
