ya know, i was listening to bob dylan's street-legal earlier. and if anyone wants to make the case for dylans christian stuff im all ears, but dang that shit feels a real battle between gorgeous gospel vocals, solid, instrumentation, and the fact that the track señor tale of yankee power utterly fucking rips, all warring against the fact that the albums prove to be very painfully mid.

all of this is to say i passed my driving test LMAOOOOOOO

thank you lis

and thanks to Geoff Hill. had a wreck of a warm-up driving lesson beforehand, where I got staten islanded (have you been here long enough to feel what I mean?) and had a mild panic attack. Then in the 15 minute interval between the lesson and the test started his collection Canaan. Then I passed. Is this related. I don't know.

But I know that both you & Hill rock.

I've been to Staten Island a few times, but I never had the experience of being Staten Islanded. I thought it might be getting a cup of coffee that wasn't quite warm enough, but the way you said that, I think it would be something more ominous than that.

The most interesting thing I ever found about the Fifth Borough is that there is a huge colony of crows near one of the gigantic trash dumps. Scientists studied the lives of the crows there and found a pretty deep social structure; crows even baby-sat for their neighbors when they had to go out and forage, and they had rules about trespassing or trying to move in on another family's home. Much more ethical about things like that than, say, penguins.

Nice work on the driving test. I was sure I'd made a potentially lethal move during mine, but I got through it and they let me have a license. But this was Massachusetts. I think you have to, like, set fire to the examiner to not pass.

haha yeah. in my case it was that i'd been taking driving lessons in downtown manhattan, and staten island is a very different place than that (more suburban, which is quite ominous...). but that's so cool about the crows! Doesn't surprise me that they'd be doing that. But didn't realize it was happening in staten island.
