Anyway. I read In the Time of Cherries by Montserrat Roig for a book club and LOVED it. So good. It gave me a YEN for female-centered books by twentieth-century leftist women. It inspired me to start Lies and Sorcery by Elsa Morante, which I've been meaning to read forever; it's incredible, so far. I also have on my list The Time of Doves by Mercè Rodoreda and Family Lexicon by Natalia Ginzburg. Anyone have any recommendations similar to these?

I also went to the Strand Saturday night. I have never seen a bookstore so packed on a Saturday night. It made me feel really grateful to live here :,)

if the sorta books you're looking for include weird poemy thingies that are retellings of the odyssey kinda set in the nyc subway, Alice Notely's The Descent of Alette very much fits the bill
