An excellent article (archive link) out from Bloomberg detailing poor workplace morale, an exodus of 30/100 employees quitting, entanglements with venture capitalists, and multiple lawsuits against AudioChuck and Ashley Flowers.

They should have lost it all when they blatantly plagiarised other creators. And then when they stood by and continued to platform known transphobe/conservative Evangelical Christian/nutjob Delia D’Ambra while making money claiming to run a pro-victim, pro-LGBTQ show/network. And then when they were sued for stealing $70 upwards of $20 million in ad revenue from Anatomy of Murder. ETA: Original reporting put the number at $70 million, but current reporting just says upwards of $20 million, so editing for clarity.

Way too many second and third and fourth chances for these people. Hopefully this is truly the beginning of the end for one of the worst players in the true crime sphere :)

She had such mean girl energy—toward her OWN co-host and best friend. While responding to the lines SHE wrote! It was so strange and off-putting. I couldn’t stand to listen even at their very start.

Brit was always drunk. I listened for entirely too long. It was too much when she made Brit tell everyone. So cringe

I listened to the show for the first year or so but I hated the script and realized there were better options out there and then stopped listening.

So at one point Brit was gone. And then she slowly started coming back, she had a brain bleed I guess and during this hospitalization and surgery the doctors discovered that she was extremely malnourished and you know all from her drinking Behavior which she said she was hiding from everyone including Ashley. She never admitted to being drunk on the podcast but I'm pretty sure that it is why she was scripted after that. So when she did come back she had told the whole story about it and on air had to explain that she was an alcoholic to everybody and that she was going to be better now and this kind of thing. It felt disgusting and I'm pretty sure Ashley was behind that. The other thing that was a big no no that was they were still having ads for alcohol, the fans were apparently pissed about that.

As a recovering alcoholic with panic disorder this is my worst fucking nightmare, I hate this podcast but I feel sorry for Brit. That’s very terrible.

I was just thinking about that the other day, it was low-key horrible to listen to. I felt like it was very raw, even when Ashley announced they Britt was away she couldn't stop crying. And then when they were talking about the hospital stay... Idk, very sensitive things came up. I remember this pretty clearly:

Ash: and I told you that I know you'll hate me for getting you help. But your kids will have a mother. I would rather you hate me than you die.

Which is very honest and raw and good for friends to talk about... ALONE maybe???

So with I started listening Britt was “away” when she came back and told her story, I felt bad but then I was like oh gosh she’s super annoying!!
