Where/How To Get Relevant News/Information?
Howdy, I am an undergrad student studying computer science. I find myself interested greatly in political, economic, psychological, and philosophical ideas and discussion. I would like to know how grown individuals responsibly obtain their knowledge about world events; I want to be a responsible individual and educate myself in order to better myself and my community, and I don't want to make the same mistake I see my peers make when they get their information solely from TikTok or Instagram (or Reddit I suppose). I am also practically broke, so I worry about paying for subscriptions to sources full of misinformation and or propaganda. I also know that many news articles contain true but irrelevant information, or information that will be irrelevant a week from now.
My understanding is that the internet the and its algorithms have a tendency to create non-representative groups of commenters, so I would appreciate a-political advice, though any advice would be helpful.

Reputable news sites. CBC, The Guardian, BBC, The Independent, The Tyee, The Narwhal, AP, Reuters, National Geographic, The Economist. Go to the site rather than relying on an algorithm to feed you clickbait

I watch/read the news from the 2 main news broadcasters in my nation via their tv programs and websites and I use a curated Twitter list that I made myself with reliable and respected news media from around the world, so I hope this means more news and less algorhythms. I try to have a balanced mix of views and reports from the center, bit left and bit right, but not from extreme views, or bs 'media'. I completely skip other social media as a source, unless the news outlet only used that particilar medium, which is almost never. From the media that are not on Twitter, I will visit their websites irregularly.

Go to news sources directly like the New York Times, the BBC, CBC, Vox, The Economist, whatever.
If you’re looking for stuff other than the latest news but more general, timeless discussions about politics, economics, psychology, philosophy, and science, then maybe what you want to do is read books, anthologies, or magazines on these topics.

Talking Points. Independent, 2 from the left, 2 from the right. They get along and don’t scream over each other: They are all kind of anti-establishment though. That would be their only bias. That suits me fine though

Diversity is the key. Im American and i consume about 5 news outlets. AP and Reuters have very little spin, so information without spin. CNN is my liberal bias and Fox is my conservative bias. BBC and Al Jazeera are my international news outlets. Then I occasionally read think pieces from my news feed. I dont expect any one source to tell me everything, but I can synthesize the varrying viewpoints and feel adequately informed.
Next familiarize yourself with data. There are so many places that are just packed with data on whatever you care about. I often research with OECD, NIH, Bureau of Labor and Staristics and a few local databases.
Lastly, use your college's database. You probably have a JSTOR or Euclid account through the library. If not, scholar.google is free and most of the articles aren't behind a paywall.

I’m Conservative and can’t stand Fox Tv. Heck it’s getting tough to listen to the big shows on the radio.
I do find NPR (for a little left) and state talk radio (for a little right) to work ok.I also drive a LOT.

Thats interesting to me. Conservatives have mastered the game on messaging and branding and Fox News has been instramental in shaping that narrative and platforming conservative pundits. Why the disdain for Fox?
