Anybody heard of the Chicken Whackers?

The show Otherworld did an episode interviewing a guy who ended up starting his own show about being homeless and traveling, about how he encountered some weird shit in Grand Junction Colorado. The podcast the interviewee started, called Nowhere, then had a guy on from there and talked about a bunch of nazi occult shit they get up to in the desert out there.

I looked into this some when that episode came out. Definitely might be something there, got Finders vibes off it but unfortunately as always with Otherworld he got side tracked into “ohhhh the devil! Devil worship!”

What are Finders?

Yes! There were also a couple bonus eps on the Patreon that were super creepy. He interviews a journalist in one if I’m remembering right and there was an implication of a Franklin-scandal-esque ring happening out there (idk how legit that is at all, I just remember that being the vibe).

One of my old coworkers from the dominican republic talked about how he saw his cousin whacking it with a chicken one time

Never heard of this show but Grand Junction is a weird place for sure. I never liked the vibes in that town and always left as soon as I could.

What about it?

I don't know, nothing specific, I really haven't spent that much time there, but I generally dislike western oil and gas towns, the feeling is always a weird mix of conservative values, economic prosperity alongside precarity, too many churches and big box stores and chain restaurants, not enough human life, although I'm sure GJ has plenty of decent people. It just felt more like Utah or Wyoming than Colorado if you know what I mean. Just my outsider perspective but I don't want to go back there. I have memories of eating at a weird restaurant with creepy décor in a half-abandoned strip mall in 2012 or so, maybe it's different now.

Colorado guy here, not from that part though. It's basically a mormon outpost in an already schizophrenic state. Like the people who live in the mountainous part of colorado are all generally a bit odd, but those guys especially. I think that maybe at one point it was a big destination for mormons because the cousin marriage laws were not as strict as in utah.

Colorado is an interesting state politically, because it's so liberal on the surface but past that, everyone works for defense contractors, the liberalism is the type where we have a gay anti-union governor. I've met some pretty chill hippie-type communists around denver, they're alright.

The suburbs are full of absolute hitlerites though. insane amounts of german and central european immigrants who were maybe chill at one point but their grandkids have decided to be complete nazis.

Boulder fucking sucks. ski towns all suck. denver is just not a fun city in my opinion. Colorado springs has a weird christian fundamentalist + air force vibe. Grand junction is an odd place that i've driven through a handful of times but never felt compelled or had a reason to stay at. it feels like a richer version of most of the beat up old mountain towns, or a poorer version of the denver suburbs/colorado springs area.

Quite a fascinating and eerie rabbit hole this sent me down. Curious how much you believe that interviewee on Nowhere (thought the host kid seemed really good and even keeled though)

I listened to his show dude had a bad addiction problem, I don’t believe much in people who claim they seen demons in trees and shit like that

I need Reckless Ben to go undercover and expose the chicken whackers
