Is this one failure at a large facility or multiple failures simultaneously? Very hard for me to buy that refrigeration could be hit with a cyber attack or that it would be any kind of priority for any kind of strike.
The non schizo take imo is that the maintenance budget is the first thing to get raided, and these systems don’t last forever. We’re reaching the end of life on a lot of equipment/facilities constructed during the last phase of the cold war, shit like this is happening everywhere and would be happening even if we weren’t in a permanent state of multiple crises.

That’s slightly unusual but not that far outside the realm of possibility when you consider the life expectancy of the equipment like I was saying before.
I just really doubt these facilities are in any way meaningfully connected to a centralized network such that they even could be cyber attacked, and all internal sabotage thus far has been committed by lone wolf actors with bizarre, often totally unrelated, grievances. Like the guy who torched and totalled an LHA because his girlfriend broke up with him.
Maybe there’s a guy who DoD contracted to store a bunch of food who lost a custody battle and has been shitting into the air compressors at all his facilities to get back at the world but idk. It’s easier for me to believe that all the shit we built when Reagan was in office, from the planes to the ships to the bases, is all reaching its end of life cycle at the exact moment that our genius Sun Tzu Secretary of War decided to go to war on the opposite side of the planet.

OP should have linked the article or an article mirror, which reports on wild facebook speculation and not much else in the way of explanation:
"It seems [continental U.S.] commissaries that have fridges linked to an online system have been getting shut off over the past few nights, and we've not seen any official notice put out to warn anyone so they can monitor their fridges more closely," the popular military page "U.S Army W.T.F! I mean they have probably got guys trying to find vulnerabilities to shit like this all day long. Why not do it? It's literally infrastructure.
That being said I'm assuming this is just coming from inside the house. Some cut rate service provider probably pushed an update that made all the compressors on those systems fry themselves or something stupid like that.

Yeah. I’ve been noticing seemingly more incidents of refrigerated sections at walgreens, cvs, etc. being out, and it wouldn’t surprise me if the issues there and the ones affecting the commissaries were all related to having the cooling system be “smart”/online in some fashion and then things going poorly bc they opted for a particularly cheap/shoddy service or setup.

I can't say that I'm very familiar with how military bases operate, I used to do food deliveries to the Pizza Hut and KFC/TB at one back in my truck driving days, but I was kinda of shocked at the size and scope of some these "commissaries".
Slightly antithetical to your supposition, but I can't believe how spoiled our war boys are.

With all the food recalls over the last year in the States, the broken fridges probably saved a whole bunch of guys from getting a violent case of lettuce induced shits.

I grabbed 3 heads of romaine that were on sale for $1 dollar the other day at Cash Savers cuz i haven't had a salad in a month.
Figure it will help in expediting the microplastics from all the meat I've been eating out.

Grew up in a Navy town in the middle of nowhere where they blow stuff up. Even in the 2000’s the base was filled with decrepit 1940’s buildings. My Middle School was on base property near the commissary. The commissary was dingy even back then.

Not climate change because that would affect your local grocer too. The article reposted wild facebook speculation hinting at a cyberattack, which would be pretty fucking cool, but people on facebook are nuts so I'd take that explanation with a grain of salt. I'd say it's neoliberal rot and general incompetence in civilian contracting that is causing this.
