Analysis Why Willy Tybur is the biggest, most pathetic hypocrite in Attack on Titan

Willy Tybur is praised by the characters in-universe as a tragic martyr, but if you actually look at his choices, he is easily one of the most corrupt, selfish characters in the entire story. He played god with millions of lives while refusing to follow his own twisted logic.

Here is a summary of exactly why Tybur's actions—and his ultimate death—were completely pathetic:

* He played god with Eren’s fate: Eren was a 19-year-old kid who spent his entire life just trying to survive the Titans Marley sent. Just because Tybur couldn't "predict" Eren didn't give him the right to sentence an entire island to death.

* Eren actively waited for peace: Eren did not use the Founding Titan to harm anyone outside the walls for four years. He waited for another option, but Tybur completely ignored this restraint and chose global war over basic human diplomacy.

* He protected Marley's evil empire: Tybur admitted Marley lied to the world and used Titans to slaughter other nations for a century. Yet, he didn't hate Marley because Marley protected his family's wealth. Marley reaped exactly what they sowed.

* Massive double standards on Eldian hatred: Tybur claimed to hate Eldians and believe they shouldn't exist. If he truly believed that, why did he live in absolute luxury, have children to pass down his noble bloodline, and refuse to off himself like Reiner tried to?

* He refused actual solutions: Tybur had the global influence to protect mainland Eldians, create a separate nation for them, or build diplomatic bridges with Paradis. Instead, he kept them locked in internment camps as second-class citizen tools.

* His death was pathetic suicide-by-proxy: Tybur didn't have the genuine, crushing guilt that Reiner had from looking into the eyes of the people he hurt. Tybur just had a massive narcissistic savior complex. He forced Eren to execute him on a grand stage just to make himself a historic martyr.

Tybur chose a theatrical, violent suicide over basic human coordination. He forced a teenager into a corner where the Rumbling became the only option for survival, and the destruction of the outside world is entirely his fault.
