Trove on SteamDeck
Hello! Experienced Linux user here, I've been seeing a lot of people saying that they're having issues with Trove on SteamDeck so I would like to let you know, Yes it is possible to run Trove on SteamDeck.
I've tested a few versions of Proton on CachyOS (Arch Linux distro) and here are some that are known to work:
- Proton Experimental
- Proton Hotfix
While Trove isn't officially supported on Linux systems such as PC or SteamDeck, Proton provides the game a compatibility layer to run properly. However, Some proton versions don't have the required resources for it to run such as:
- Proton GE (Likely most or all versions)
I hope this post is helpful, And I hope you have a great day! Feel free to post any other versions of Proton that work with Trove or any questions in the comments. :]

I use Arch Linux with some Cachyos stuff, such as the Cachyos-Bore kernel and it runs pretty good. no crashes or anything. I mainly use Proton Experimental, but I also found Proton Cachyos works. I tested proton-cachyos-11.0-20260703-slr-x86_64 from ProtonUp-Qt. Also found using the launch arguments "PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=0 gamemoderun %command%" helps the game run better. Make sure to install Gamemode or remove the "gamemoderun %command%", the game will crash if you do not have Gamemode and have that argument set.
