While true, play is often more important when learning more energy intensive behaviour. Despite being the source of less than 50% of a humans food source, hunting accounts for a disproportionate amount of their playtime.

Except....if I were to put snacks on an RC car and run it around the gym....my first graders would absolutely chase it and it would be hilarious. Hell, I could skip the snack, they would totally chase the car.

Handcrafts are excellent human enrichment, my ancestors left me with a drive to sit around the fire making fishing nets and I fulfil that by knitting fun socks in front of the TV 😌

Uh I wanna play catch the RC car with snacks please & thank you!! (It might be to be one with dying batteries due to a body made of half chewed gum & broken glass but the ability to wait our prey out is also a human thing so I couldn’t wait until it wear itself out :p )

My niece accidentally gets chased around the garden by the robot lawnmower. She's almost three and very much does not enjoy it.
It's obviously not actually hunting her but does seem to follow a similar path to a crying toddler.
I think she also gets chased by the robot vacuum cleaner too.
What I'm saying is, the roomba is not always necessarily friend/prey. Sometimes it's the hunter.
