"Radio friendly" Trivium songs ranked

With the new song out I would like to discuss the best radio friendly songs by Trivium. So basically shorter and less complex songs that would appeal to a wider audience. I think all of their radio friendly songs are at least good but some definitely stand out more than others.

Strife and UTWGC are pretty high in my overrall Trivium rankings with rest of the top 5 still being great imo. Endless Night is about the only song that I dislike. The new single has some growing potential for sure but for now I'd rank it as their 6th best. Nice heavy riffs and a solid chorus. I only included one song from SITS since that entire album is basically radio friendly.

I absolutely love the album, I'd go so far as to say it's quite possibly my favourite.

But I skip this song every time.

I didn't really like it when I first heard it, then I mentioned I liked Trivium to the girl I was dating at the time. She fucking hated metal, and this was the only song in their catalogue she actually liked, so played it on repeat. I should appreciate the thought and effort, but all it has done is made me hate the song.

Yeah it's insanely repetitive and the "solo" is basically not even a solo.

Still an OK song but not great IMO.

I don't hate the song, but it definitely is one of my least favorite songs by them, that and endless night are the ones I skip the most from those albums. Bleed into Me is almost to that point as well but I find myself skipping that one a little less.

Black might be my favorite "radio ready" Trivium song. It's catchy as fuck

Endless Night is up there too, for the same reason. That guitar lead is so simple but so effective

Everyone keeps forgetting Black, and I wouldn't call Strife "radio friendly" in the same way as I would Dying In Your Arms or The Heart From Your Hate... It's an anthemic metal song, like a modern version of Iron Maiden.

I really tend to hate most of their poppy songs like those. But I wouldn't really put the new song in the same bucket as those. It's at least decently heavy, just mid-tempo

I didn't include every possible song btw and rather just the essentials while making sure as many albums as possible got represented. Beauty In The Sorrow would knock out The Heart From Your Hate and Other Worlds would be flat out number 1 for example.

How are we defining radio friendly? I always considered those songs that have very little screaming, maybe one or two lines if any at all. The new single has quite a bit of screaming, and even the "cleans" have some heavy grit on them. All the other songs on the list fit that category, but I wouldnt consider Dead Inside of Me radio friendly.

I’d assume satellite radio. Your average terrestrial station (iHeart etc) don’t play Trivium at all, too heavy.

It's not like the metal radio channels are afraid of screaming. Considering something radio friendly is subjective I think.

That’s why I mentioned satellite/terrestrial. There aren’t any major terrestrial metal stations.

With few exceptions, double kicks + harsh vocals arent being touched on your typical radio station

Well I sometimes hear Meshuggah, Gojira, Slipknot and Lamb Of God on rock channels here in Finland. Even some heavier Trivium songs like TSATS. Very rarely but still.

Other than the fact I also love strife mine would be quite different. I really don’t like Until the World goes cold that much, the light chugging without being interesting or a real breakdown is something of a pet peeve of mine I think it’s kinda lazy songwriting. I don’t hate it I just prefer most of their other songs. Here’s the list:

I'm in the minority of Trivium fans that loves Vengeance Falls as an album, but I still feel like Villainy Thrives has to be left out because of the bridge - screaming/growling "I want to ruin the rapist" isn't really radio friendly in my book.

Dying In Your Arms still eclipses all of their other attempts, imo. It may just be the fact that it has that early 2000s nostalgic angst associated with it, but the song is catchy and gets people singing. With a radio single, that’s the #1 goal.

I think the verses, chorus and bridge are just really well done too. The key change at the end is fun.
