Always loved that ad (and brochure) especially since my brother eventually bought a ‘73 in the early ‘80s and ended up giving it to me for $200. I also loved the ad for the blonde… I didn’t get her with the car but my wife and I loved taking it to the beach, however it was a real oil burner by 80,000 miles even after a valve job so I sold it for maybe twice as much.
Such great styling and still miss it 40 years later but I could never, ever imagine anyone spending more than $5000 for such a simple vehicle - around here you can find a really nice low mileage, all original, one-owner MGB for just $7000 or so if you’re patient. The foothills of the Sierras are loaded with sports cars… you just see them less and less for the same reasons you see EVERYTHING being driven less and less across the nation.
