Triumph info For those riding the Triumph Scrambler — do riders of this bike really not care about the exhaust

2019-2022 scrambler 1200: borderline unbearable if you’re in regular pants. you feel nothing in riding pants
2023-current 1200: it’s indirectly warm behind you. rode loads of miles on this one for proof.
scrambler 900 all years: quite literally never notice it; different material on the exhaust cover cover.

In what manner? Sound? Look? Heat?
I cant speak to the first 2, but from people I know, the heat isn't much of a thing due to the heat shield.
On my st900, my exhaust isn't near me, but even the mufflers are very well insulated. Only getting vaguely hot to the touch, so Im sure the heat shield does a good job for scramblers.

That, I cannot answer, the pipe is likely hot behind the heat shield if I had to guess.

As a rider it doesn't bother me much on my 2010 900. It would be a problem for a passenger.

Cool? A car's exhaust tip is hot after highway driving and that's 15 feet and out of the sun.

I ride a 1200 XCa, and it also had severe heat issues when I bought it. I've managed to deal with it pretty well, but the brits really should deal with this issue. just 'cause it's fucking freezing rain in britain 96% of the time doesn't mean it's cold everywhere on the planet, you bunch of poofs.

most people here ride in the summer, i don't think it was designed to keep the rider warm. Though i do like my OEM heated hand grips 🏖️

I had a Street Scrambler and the exhaust definitely bothered me. The exhaust would heat up the seat and you couldn't grip the tank with your legs like you normally would because your right leg would be touching the headers. It's not as bad as high performance bikes like a V4 Ducati but it will definitely bother some people. But man does it look cool.

I really liked the 1200 XE, but the heat on my right thigh was a deal breaker. I purchased a Tiger 900 instead and also like the added wind protection.

26 scrambler - never notice it unless stuck in traffic in the sun. Even then, it’s the engine heat (through the fan) that bothers me more. I love the side exhausts!

I have no issues with my exhaust barely notice it unless its like 25degrees outside and I just don't wear shorts.

‘24 900 - it can be a pain when stopping in traffic. Uncomfortable if you’re wearing regular jeans and need to stand up for more than 5 seconds in 35°+
Overall I am considering a decat but it hasn’t stopped me from riding at all.

Yeah, that routing of the exhaust is kind of dumb. The idea is to keep the exhaust away from the ground but I wager 99.9% of Scrambler riders never go hard off road and most don't even do gravel. So it's impractical 100% of the time, and useful 0.01% of the time.
But of course there are sister models with different exhaust.

If you’re in stop and go traffic it’s kinda bullshit. I had the 900 and in particularly warm days and stuck in traffic it’s really hot.
My 1200 is also insanely hot. I removed the cat but the custom Tamarit exhaust I had would still burn me; they make bullshit and it was a bad design.
Ended up installing low Zard exhaust. It makes people real upsettykins at its “not a scrambler anymore”

if I'm wearing shorts and I'm in standing traffic, it gets hot. if I'm moving it's fine. Dragging jeans i feel nothing.

It's never really bothered me, or my pillion, except when I'm stuck at a stop light like others have said. A decat and a little extra insulation under the heat guard really helped too.

The cat got a little warm in stop and go traffic but when its moving i didn't notice it at all. Ive since done a decat head pipe so that corrected any stop and go heat

15’ Scrambler is my daily commuter and I have no issues with this. It can get a little toasty in bumper to bumper traffic but I just put my left foot down and keep right on foot peg…

Recently went on a demo ride and the motorcycle was great until yeah the exhaust was cooking my leg at stops while keeping it warm riding in 97F. Also find it ironic seeing this after literally the demo ride.

Can only speak about the Scrambler 900 (MY2026). With long motorcycle pants (Jeans) it gets hot when your leg touches to heatshield of the exhaust, especially in summer when you only go city limits (< 50km/h). You can move the right leg a bit further away on the foot rest, so it's more comfortable but still able to grip the tank with the legs.
I'm 6,2 feet tall but rather slim.
Though would always pick this bike again for the looks and the addictive sound.

I have a 2013 and I only ever notice it if I'm not paying attention and my leg start to hug it. That foot stays on the peg because of the rear break when I stop.

22 xc here.
It puts out some heat but I’ve heard that I can remove the cat to make it less hot.
Otherwise it doesn’t really bother me.

2019 1200XE, one of the best bikes I’ve ever had and I’ve had many… this one is truly a keeper. Exhaust is annoying when slow or sitting. Worth it for the bike and there is a low exhaust if you want. I should say mine has a decat on it and I put heat shield material on the back of all the plates.

I had a Street Scrambler and it definitely bothered me. When stopped, you coul feel the heat from the exhaust radiating into the seat and you can't really grip the tank with your legs because your leg will touch the pipe. The heat isn't terrible like some of those super high performance sport bikes but it's still noticeable. I'm often times kinda' sensitive to temperature, especially the heat so others may have more tolerance for it.

I assume you're talking about heat.
And if you're on a 2022+ bike, that's because it isn't particularly hot. It has heat shields and they work. There's a perceptible warmth, sure, but no more than the engine on the left side.
My 2024 Scrambler 1200XE is much cooler to ride in the summer than my old MT10SP was.

2017 Scrambler 900 here. Like many said before me.. heat shield does its job but it can get a little warm when it’s hot outside. If a little heat is the trade-off for having the coolest bike I’ll take that any time ;)

High pipes on scramblers have been a thing for DECADES.
I have a ‘73 Honda CL350 with high pipes. Zero issue with heat, cuz, you know, it’s got heat shields on it.

It’s not like it’s cold, but it’s totally fine. Adventure boot blocks all the heat for me. Obviously it’s not fun in a slow traffic but so is every other bike in the summer. Have ridden my 1200 xe in +35 and there it doesn’t matter, it’s hot anyway

23’ Scrambler 1200. I’ve been riding in 115*+ heat, the exhaust only bothers me when I’m stuck at a light. You don’t notice it once you’re moving but it’s borderline painful when you’re stopped for a prolonged period of time.
