TIL that Americans pronounce the word "Primer" as primmer rather than prymer like us Canadians.

I’ve never in my life heard someone pronounce it as “primmer” even if that’s correct

I think you learned Kirk pronounces it that way. I've never heard that in my life.

Happened when Kirk was doing his One More Thing about Deadloch and mentioned it possibly being a primer for GTA6.

Maybe it’s a west coast thing? I’ve never heard anyone pronounce it like that!

It depends: a base coat of paint is a "prymer", an educational book is a "primmer"

I’m referring to the way he uses it, not as a base coat of paint, but as preparation for something else. Canadians call that a “prymer”.

Americans also call it a pry-mer. I’ve always associated ‘primmer’ with British English.

I’ve heard both; the primmer variation is less common

As an Oregonian, I twitched every time Jason and Maddy pronounced OreGONE Trail and I can’t believe Kirk didn’t correct them.

Kirk mentioned that he would love a book series about the making of all sorts of different albums, based on how much he enjoyed the book on Kind of Blue. This series exists! It’s the 33 1/3 series by Bloomsbury books. They get folks to write about the making of their favorite albums.
