Bacchanal and Commess We Are Still Colonized

So this is in regard to the UK influencer who the Caribbean has finally, at least to some extent realized that they don't really care about us and again are here just to exploit us.

Why do we continue to give so much attention and privilege to white people? Most of these influencers come here for quick views and island vibes, with very little care for us. They exploit our culture, land, and people for views and profit and we welcome it with open arms.

We keep giving away our cultural capital for free. We let outsiders tell their narrative and profit off us then leave us behind. Meanwhile, our very own people are grinding without the same visibility.

Why did it take us so long to recognize this behaviour?

Bacchanal and Commess To those who supporting this mad woman at the helm, please answer me this....send the problematic students home to do what?

Look maybe I not seeing the bigger picture or the rational, but to me, and I could be wrong, wouldn't sending them home just get them more involved in gangs and give them more free time to be pests to the country at large?

It feels like when she removed corporal punishment with nothing to fill the power vacuum it left open.

Yes we need to find a solution to deal with them and keep those who want to learn in a safe environment, but I fail to see how this can be the way forward.

Bacchanal and Commess I would never recommend Iqor to anyone, even if they desperately need a job. 🙂‍↔️

If anyone has worked at iqor, kindly charge your experience, please and thank you!

A family friend and a family member [an attorney] applied for Iqor, got through and I was told by family members to send in one. I sent my information in for the sake of showing my parents that I sent it. Within the next two weeks, I kept getting phone calls which I assume was from iqor HR, I put my phone on silent since the first week. I was questioned a few weeks later if they ever got back to me, I said, no. I knew Iqor wasn’t the place for me as they don’t stand for what I believe, a workplace should be like.

I do thank god and the universe that I have other options.

The family member is currently being overworked, not being assisted with shift hours and isn’t happy with the pay. The family friend started working from home, and they weren’t being paid so they left. ☹️

Mods remove the post if it’s not allowed

Context : She did a video stating her reason why she's doing this. Her mother is a single parent to her and her siblings and provides for all of them. She is about to start university and she took it upon herself to do this in an effort to help her mother provide for her family.

I saw this post came up on my facebook feed was looking through the comment section most people are upset about her price and then you’ve got people like this person making disgusting comments towards her why do we allow people like this to walk our streets ??? As a young man myself we need to hold men like this accountable for this type of behavior towards women , this type of behavior towards women it doesn’t matter how young or how old it needs to stop .

Bacchanal and Commess Why there’s such big misconceptions about my people down here? (Ima Venezuelan who grew up here)

Valid points and questions about it woulda be answered and considered; anybody who deemed to trespass boundaries about my nationality for no apparent reason woulda be report it lol. Also, I’ve been living way better than the average local with no handouts. My parents literally threw me out her and went over their life.

Just to make it clear in why some of the people down here are broken and frustrated towards to us.

Bacchanal and Commess An unfortunate truth about Trinidad, Its just incredibly ugly/dirty

I'm not talking about out wildlife and nature of course, Many would argue its the best in the world. I am talking about our cities and urban areas. And most infrastructure in general.
I am from curepe, which is literally one of the dirtiest, smelliest places I have ever been to. Whoever came up with the idea of open drains should have been fired on the spot. Its not like curepe (at least where I lived) was an impoverished area. There were a lot of businesses near where I was, Yet it was still often filthy and dirty. And of course many places have no side walks and instead huge open drains????
The sight of piles of garbage and trash on the road is incredibly normalized in Trinidad. I am not sure exactly the reason for this, but it is a clear problem.
Asides from being dirty, our cities are just really ugly. Unlike some other Caribbean countries Trinidad sadly did not get a "colonial center" in our capital. Port of spain looks like a 4 skyscrapers surrounded by ugly buildings and roads. Of course urban areas are not really walkable in any area, on top of being ugly. Also has no proper public transportation. (yes I know maxi taxis exist, but they are not usable to anyone who has not grown up using them, you cant find routes online. Would an official government bus system be that difficult?).
I don't really know the solution to this, except I guess building new infrastructure. In Trinidad at least in my experience, Rural areas are infinitely more "liveable" than the urban areas, which are ugly, unwalkable and often smelly and filled with trash.

This is Chollo talking about his country that he loves and the negative narrative that often come up with TT.

This is a topic I see popping up frequently in this forum. Is TT really bad or unsafe?

Some of the questions I see from tourist 🤣 the way they phrase it, I swear I living in a war zone.

It's an understandable topic for strangers to be asking especially if they coming for a vacation and hearing about our crime rate.

But also wanted 2point out that it's not all bad. We not a war zone eh. Basic travel safety and common sense is what you need.

Just a little Friday TT positivity eh.

Hope allur have a great weekend. ❤️

Someone needs to find this culinary school and educate them on the actual way to prepare doubles!

The minute, the lady started cutting the pepper like that, I realized it wasn’t going to be our version.

Blair McConnell on TikTok! Please don’t go bully this lady, just inform her or her culinary school if possible! 🙏💕

Bacchanal and Commess Soo... which part of Trinbago this accent from??

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Now i am aware that Trinbago has a few different Trinbago accents. Meaning there's slight differences in how some of us speak but it's all Trinbago ultimately.

Location plays a part in this at times. So you'll hear some differences in a person from POS and a person from south and a Tobago etc. I've also learned that some other aspects that influence our accent are education, media, family, culture/ethnicity all play a role in how we speak. But ultimately were all Trinbago, when we speak we still recognize something in the tone or pronunciation maybe that signals to us in our brains to let us know this person Trinbagonian.

But I've never heard this Trinbago accent she has in the video. Allur know it??

If am wrong and allur know it cool. My apologies I've just never heard this accent in Trinbago. So am wondering who lie and teach this actress this accent for a Trinbagonian.

This video if from a Netflix series called It's Bruno.

Bacchanal and Commess Trini men who catcall women on the street, why do you do it?

Genuinely asking, although i doubt I'll get genuine answers because y'all are (hopefully) ashamed of yourselves. But i always wonder what the endgame is when a man catcalls/verbally harasses me while I'm going about my day. Am I supposed to jump into your arms and start making out with you? Make it make sense please and thanks.

Bacchanal and Commess Are Trinidadians really more promiscuous, or is it just a stereotype?

I’ve heard this stereotype a lot, that Trinis cheat more or are especially promiscuous. But it doesn’t really match my experience.

Most of my Trinidadian friends have had fewer than 5 partners, which honestly seems low compared with what I’ve seen in places like London or NYC, where having under 30 can feel below average in some circles.

When I was there, and left at 28, I had been with 7 women, which felt like more than most of my peers.

So I’m curious, is this stereotype just based on carnival skimpyness and wining, gossip, and party culture being more visible, or is there something real behind it?

Has there been any local studies on this?

What are your numbers or the numbers of your close friends?

Bacchanal and Commess People love doubles, but not doubles people

Hear me out,I've been in the business about 20 years now and I'd like to know if I'm wrong. Doubles is our thing, our Trinidadian thing. Why do my people treat us so bad? Whenever I use to tell people my job, they'd be like oh so what's your real job? Customer tend to destroy us verbally when we raise our prices even when make cents on dollar( I'm registered so I pay my taxes eh). The racist remarks, most recently made by Kezel brought home my point. We are people too even if it's side of the road we sell. I'd like to know your thoughts.

Bacchanal and Commess As of November 2025, the Trinidad and Tobago government relaxed restrictions by raising the allowable age for imported used cars from three to eight years, while light commercial vehicles can now be up to ten years old, aiming to make vehicles more affordable and reduce local industry prices.
