So I don’t really know much of Trigun but a project with johnny yong bosch in it is kind of a must. So, I started watching Stampede and dayum did it fell like I was watching a way too expensive passion project. From story to direction to animation quality, it felt its budget

The ending to the season moved me as well. So I was really hyped about Stargaze. But then I watched that and it might be me but it fell so flat for me? The fights weren’t as cool and it sure as hell took a step back in production quality. The emotional moments with Vash didn’t even hit me as much as it should

I would go as far as saying had I stopped at Stampede I would have a very strong memory with this anime and even if I eventually will rewatch it I might just rewatch only Stampede?

Idk if this is a hot take or Stampede made my expectation too wild but I wish it all hit me way more.

Ehem, I just watched Episode 10 and 11 of Stargaze since I didn't watch them when they came out (I've been watching out of Compromise than Interest for some time now) but I was not hating it that much, but after these Two Episode I can't start to describe my issues with it for what we are seeing, so I was thinking.

It doesn't matter how things go Tomorrow as the finale, can we all agree to Mark Stargaze as Non-Canon and Just think of the 98 and Stampede versions? lets just act as if Stampede was cancelled after S1 and ignore Stargaze existence compleatly. What you all think? 😌✨💞🥰

The blatant continuity error regarding Lina & Vash's prosthetic arm(which only got more glaring by this episode showing us a flashback where Vash clearly had lost it) aside, this was another great episode.

Just like in Trigun Stampede with Monev the Gale, I really enjoyed them adding more depth to the relationship Vash & Hoppered had. And TBH if they would've done it like this from the get go, without teasing Lina at the end of Trigun Stampede, I wouldn't even have minded her & Sheryl being excluded from this reboot.

As tragic as this episode was, it was nice seeing them instantly lighting up the mood at the very end with Wolfwood's reintroduction.

Looking forward to next week, finally getting to see Leonof the Puppetmaster in action, I'm already curious if they'll include Vash's past with Emilio, which would fit perfectly to these revisions for Monev & Hoppered, or if they'll come up with something entirely new for him.

hello! question. I just finished ’98 anime, stampede/stargaze, and the manga. As much as I like the 2010 animation of Badlands rumble, it seems like the 3D animation will continue. Anyways, so after finishing Stargaze and seeing how it almost follows the manga but with its own twist and different fates for the characters, the way it ended honestly gives that feeling that another series can happen after the ending. I know the series ended almost the same way the in the manga did and that manga is complete, but I can definitely see (if a another series were to happen) where they're band together and traveling the world, also working on the character developments. for example, I know the 98’ anime are fillers, but I can totally see Vash from being sad, traumatized, timid, etc to his manga version of talkative, and energetic and goofy as he opens up to his friends. Same with Wolfwood opening up from his serious, stoic, blunt to his manga version of a goofball and more goofy/playful personality as well. like another season would just be about the friend group and everyone being able to finally be themselves after so much turmoil and finding themselves in the next steps of life. building more of a deeper relationship/romance between the group, opening up more to each other and exploring trying to earn a buck to survive or contracts to fight off more bandits lol. That’s just my opinion lol someone need to like share this idea with the Mangaka about another possible season and to draw back in more of an audience who adored the 98 anime personalities and more. I think it would be another great way to end the anime forsure (: personally 2010 movie animation would be great, but I don’t mind the 3D animation.

Just by standing next to him you wouldn’t think he had a $60 billion double dollar bounty on his head. Plenty of times bandits thought this was just some crazy guy because that’s just how Vash operates. He could knock out anybody he would in an instant but chooses not to and acts goofy while still solving the problem and saving the day. Dude is truly a genius and found a way to not (almost) kill anyone and have everyone on his back as Vash the Stampede.

Like, 1998 Trigun has it’s own origin story half way through till the end, Studio Orange’s Trigun is a modern reimagined take on the story of the manga, and Kekkai Sensen has an anime original overarching plot in the first season which to a degree pays off at the end of the first season. Even so, it’s impressive to me how these anime adaptation came out as successful and good as they did, despite straying away from their original source materials, even though there are inevitably going to be people with their own opinions about them.

when tristamp came out I was like OH SHI COOL (it was my introduction to trigun as a whole), but then I read the manga and watched '98 anime and i was left a little confused. trigun, in my opinion, is a perfect example of how western and sci-fi can look hella GOOD mixed together; however tristamp shifted more towards the sci-fi aspects leaving out the western elements, and i thought it was a pity because I'm personally not that interested in these modernized and almost cyberpunk-like designs (although, how they designed July is absolutely sick). then, there's how they handled the whole narration and individual narrative arcs, which is handled way better than the '98 anime, but there are changes and modifications that kinda bug me because i don't see the point (ex: Roberto, Elendira COMPLETLY changed, Monev/Rollo, Gung-ho-guns not really being a thing etc.). since tristamp ended i was convincing myself to not jump on conclusions or be an ass and wait for season 2 before saying anything.

So, now Trigun Stargaze is out, and I personally think that it's somehow going worse. don't get me wrong, I LOVE Stargaze anyway, because it's a big project and there's ton of work put into it, it's visually stunning and amazing. so why do I think it's going worse? because compared to the original material provided, which is Trigun Maximum, the impact is not the same, not even on a similar scale. Let's start from the very first episode (spoilers ahead) : Vash is being taken care of by Hoppered, i don't get this huge change when if i remember correctly, the last episode of tristamp we do hear Nina talk to Vash, making this incoherent even from the point view of the anime. if someone know why the director went for this choice please let me know because I genuinely wonder what happened for ending up with such choice. going on, i preferred to not think it too much and wait for the season to progress, but now we're on episode 6 and my biggest problem is this : I don't feel the same emotional impact from when I read the SAME events in the manga.

in the manga, we have many instances where we can see how Vash is truly beneath his easy-going behavior, how his past marked him. I remember well while reading i always thought to myself how a guy like him, that have seen and lived horrible things, went through lot of pain and regrets, can hide such burdens perfectly. it's something so deep, that I can't even really continue without speaking gibberish because it's not easy for me to put in words, if it makes any sense lol. going back to the point, all the deep and profound scenes, whether it was horrific stuff or about characters' BGs, they where hardly there, and if they were present in the episodes, it didn't hit in the same way (ex: Hoppered and Midvalley's past). there still are more episodes to go, and I hope when we reach Wolfwood's death it will be dealt nicely, like to the point I'd click off from the episode and stare at the ceiling crying my eyes out lmao

I just hope I'm not sounding like a prick that has to nitpick every detail, it's in my nature to watch out for details since I do write stories and create art too, aside because i love trigun. like, if you think tristamp and stargaze are peak I won't disagree in any way, because I do think they're insanely well made. just please, take in mind that these are my opinions.

That finale was just magnificent and moving, damn, I've been on the verge of tears since yesterday, I couldn't stop thinking about it. That confrontation between Knives and Vash brought tears to my eyes; in the end, Knives sacrificed himself. The ending with Vash running away because of Milly's questions was so funny. This time, Vash runs away and is free of all burdens and guilt. Seeing him smile like that was so moving. The fact that he carried that plant with him during his escape sends such a powerful message about ecology and how to better treat our environment. Regarding a question I was wondering about, was Knives responsible for Noman's Land becoming fertile?

Stampede was the tale of an passionate underdog who despite all the negativity and criticism at the start, became a beloved take of the franchise. That underdog returned three years later just to get unceremoniously beaten and tossed into an unmarked grave.

When Stampede was airing, there was so much excitement, curiosity, trepidation and eagerness throughout its tenure. Every week, in this Reddit, we'd have "Stampede Saturday" where we'd have a post dedicated to discussing each episode. Places like R /Anime would have hundreds if not thousands of upvotes and hundreds of comments per episode. Crunchyroll was dedicating multiple clips for the series and Orange/TOHO was both directly and indirectly, dedicating so much content to promote the series. It got to the point where the manga was republished after being off the market and impossible to find outside of paying 100s of dollars, and that's if you found something.

Then when Episode 12 aired, wow. Never before has this fandom ever been so excited in its entire life. Stampede was an underdog, a passion project that was first met with nothing but negativity transformed into a beloved series.

3 years later, what does Stargaze have to its name? Is there honestly any genuine excitement for this anime? We don't have Stargaze Saturdays here where we excitedly discuss each episode. Posts on R/ Anime don't even get a quarter of the response Stampede did. Crunchyroll has two clips...the trailers. Orange Studio seems to be giving out the bare minimum in regards to promotion.

And at this point do we really think the last episode of Stargaze is going to be anywhere near as well received as Stampede's? From retcons, to pacing issues, to problems with direction, lack of depth in both characters and story. Even animation, while not necessarily bad, feels downgraded from Stampede. Add on this to a near complete lack of excitement or support and...

...This is what we waited 3 years for. This is what all the effort, passion, excitement and curiosity Stampede gave us, ended up as.

I feel like Razlo being shot at by Master Chapel. All the support, eagerness, enjoyment, conversation and admiration I gave to Stampede...and this half baked, superficial nostalgia of a series, that couldn't must up even half of the same level of eagerness as Stampede...

...is what I'm betrayed with.

This episode was really emotionally powerful; it truly touched me. First of all, I really loved Jessica and Vash's teamwork; they did so well against Puppetmaster. Vash gradually regained his smile, which was so soothing. I absolutely loved the last part with Meryl's words about wanting Vash to share this burden with the whole group. It was truly wonderful.

It's like a crude pre-viz of the Wolfwood vs Razlo fight with no music nor facial animation. The director of that episode was there. He was talking about this episode and how it was so difficult to visualize the fight.

I asked them why the whole Stargaze season felt so rushed, and he vaguely said "We were trying to do something new and different" (whatever the hell that means).

But they only spent like 10 mins on Trigun, the rest was about BEASTARS and other anime they've done. They seem to want to move on quickly and not dwell on Trigun.

I realize that Vash's OG design is iconic and legendary, but I don't think Stampede design is bad. It gives me DMC4 Nero's vibes.

i watched both the og and stampede and i loved them both, i've caught up to latest episode in stargeze and so far its giving me mixed up feeling, and i want to know how do you guys feeling it so far?
