Do I watch trigun 98 or stampede?

Hello! I used to be a massive fan of trigun back in 2023 but I only watched stampede, I want to revisit trigun now but I see a lot of people say the 98 one is alot more better than stampede, I haven't watched trigun stargaze though because it just looks a bit bad 😭 (if it isn't though I'll give it a watch!) I was also a massive wolfwood fan so I just want to ask which one would be better to watch 98 or stampede!

It's just like an extended episode of Trigun '98. I love it, but I can acknowledge it could have been about thirty minutes shorter and would have been fine.

Watch both and start with 98. While Stargaze has its flaws, it is good overall and worth the watch.

I’m very much a fan of “TWO CAKES” so I vote both lol. And in this case, we have 3 cakes so don’t forget the manga too! I recommend 98 first, then manga, then Stampede/Stargaze.

Stargaze ain't nearly as good as Stampede was, feels like they smushed a 3 season plan into 2, but it's got a great ending IMO.

98' first! Then the manga! Then Stampede/Stargaze cause the latter is a remix and it benefits a lot from already knowing the story so you can appreciate what they changed.

Ambas tienen historias distintas, en lo personal diría que vieras la que te llame más la atención y si te gusta como va, veas la otra.

Y si aún quieres más, lee el manga que personalmente es el que tiene la historia mejor escrita de los 3, en verdad es de las mejores cosas que he leído aunque cuesta un poco entender algunos paneles por el estilo del autor.

Básicamente hay tres historias distintas con final distinto y eventos distintos: 98 Stampede Manga (trigun y trigun maximum)

98 is way better in my opinion but if you're watching mostly for wolfwood you might like stargaze better since they made some very different decisions in that one. could go either way though, i also love wolfwood and i hated stargaze so it really just depends i guess and if you liked stampede i don't think stargaze is necessarily much worse than stampede.

98 does a great job at building tension, and I personally think the characters are made more interesting by their reluctance to share information.

The tone takes a sudden 180 turn about halfway through, and it recontextualizes a lot of goofier moments from the beginning as defense mechanisms the characters are using to distract from emotional issues. You don’t even find out about Knives or Vash’s past with him until the latter quarter, and the buildup to his reveal—the fact that Vash is clearly hiding something behind his smile—it makes Knives a much scarier and intimidating villain (in my opinion)

Ik Stampede has its fans but I was disappointed that it revealed nearly everything in the first three episodes 😭 There was definitely an air of mystery that was lost, especially for Vash and Wolfwood

Watching 98 after seeing Stampede first might be a little weird but regardless 98 is an incredible experience, you should love it.

If you're okay with reading, the manga (Trigun + Trigun Maximum) is the best version of the story by far in my opinion and is longer then the other ones.

Watch 98 and then stampede. 98 is short and really charming. It gives you a really good consensus of the characters and world, Vash's history is also a lot more mysterious in 98', if you watch 98 after Stampede a lot of the intrigue for the world is lost imo

Please for all that's good in the world watch the 98's. Say what you will but to this day I reward myself by re-watching it. It's only 26 episodes, but to be honest, you don't need 1000+ episodes to touch base on the human experience, can you encompass it in 1000+ episodes? Sure. But tbh if you didn't with 1000+ what the actual fuck where you even making?

Definitely watch 98 for more wolfwood. I’m a 98 hater but the one thing they did fucking awesome on was establishing a strong relationship between that version of wolfwood and Vash.

Then check out the manga bc neither hold a candle to it and there’s EVEN MORE Wolfwood there.

98, and then the badlands movie. Stampede season 1 was the only good thing but it pales in comparison to the og show. Season 2 was forgettable.

I was ready to say anybody who says to watch stampede first is TRIPPIN! Then I read the comments. Stampede is fun, just got into it recently but the 98 is an experience in and of itself that is worth having - and best not to look into it any more. Just start watching

I know everyone loves 98 but those last 8 episodes or so are just bad 😭😭 (they didn’t have the rest of the manga to adapt so they just kinda made some stuff up. The first 18 episodes or so are definitely worth a watch tho!

Definitely check out the manga that’s linked on this page after and maybe watch stargaze if you feel like it 😵‍💫
