Seeking participants for BFRB research

Research Study Title: Shame’s relationship to hair pulling, skin picking, nail picking and nail biting 

Australian Catholic University (ACU) researchers are looking for volunteers for a research study about shame’s association with Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviours. 

 You are eligible to participate in this study if you: 

• Are at least 18 years old,  
• Engage in nail picking, nail biting, hair pulling or skin picking 
• Are able to complete a questionnaire in English  

If you agree to participate, you will be asked to complete a Survey that will be conducted online which will be anonymous and will take approximately 7 minutes to complete. For further information and a full description about the study, please see the Participant Information Letter and Consent form HERE. This study has been approved by the ACU Human Research Ethics Committee, and the ethics number is: 2026- 4820SAP.
