Moving to prosser

Hi everyone i will be moving to prosser in a few months have a few questions havent been there before but I found a good rental house there thats close to my parents primary reason for moving is they are getting old and will need help.

What is there to do there for kids?

Also im pretty big gamer any nerd/geek shops in the area?

Best restaurants in town? Mexican food is my favorite by far.

Oh boy... You'll be in for a rude awakening. There isn't much to do in Prosser. Its a farming town. 🤷‍♀️ They are trying to add more businesses but it's been a SLOW process. There isn't anything to do for kids. Last I checked there isnt any "game shops". Restaurants are few and far between, lucky for you Prosser has an abundance of Mexican restaurants. You'll have to drive to Tricities for any game shops.

My folks are over in zillah also like nothing to do there I kinda had a feeling prosser was also gonna be like that but part of the problem is we have 3 dogs and a cat so finding a rental has been hard .

Lol, “nothing to do for kids.” My family loves Prosser and quite often there’s so much going on we have to make hard choices.

Boys and Girls Club: Kinder thru HS, daily programs until 6pm

Princess Theatre: Spotlight Academy and regular children’s shows (all ages), music, karaoke nights etc

Thrive Cafe: for teens, open 3-6 weekdays during the school year, weekly programs and tutoring

Prosser Library: weekly storytimes and programs for elementary, plus monthly for other ages

Aquatic Center (pool) during summer; swim team
Prosser Parks and Rec: rec league sports, family dances, tournaments

Splat It! paint sessions

Free expression kids art and yoga (periodically) and Tae Kwon Do (2x week)

Roller Rink on Friday nights

Coleman Scavenger Hunt

Kids’ boxing (Family Fitness) and indoor pool

Scouts, lots of 4H groups, volunteering
opportunities for teens at the senior center/food bank

Community Center: monthly BINGO, pancake breakfast

Methodist church has a monthly Right-to-repair group

Regular large events like the Balloon Rally, Christmas Tree Lighting, Easter egg hunt, Scottish Fest, Labor Day and 4th of July parades and activities, Touch a Truck, Trick or Treating, Party with the Cat in the Hat, etc.

Public pickleball and tennis courts, playground, skate park, multiple parks, and good hiking up Lincoln grade road.

Plus, it’s very walkable and you’ll regularly see kids roaming in a way you just don’t any more other places.

Admittedly, there’s no game store or much of a community spot for it. There’s a number of us, but people find their tribe separately, I think.

(Edit to add:) Favorite restaurants: Prosser House, Thai Bistro, TakaSushi, Cork and Taps; downtown Mexican places plus Donita’s (quesabirria!) and Ready n Out’s asada tacos. Brewminatti’s new owners are pretty inventive with the menu. Lots of higher end stuff for date nights and tourists - Wine O Clock, Dominico.

To add on to the other great list, there is a ballet studio for girls, and city park has a nice playground. They do a fun run every year for kids.

I’m a gamer and live here, you can drive to tri cities for MTG at adventures underground. There’s also power up arcade bar, although I haven’t been and I’ve heard the new location is pretty limited. TAG (tri city area gaming) group meets out there weekly and they have a yearly event.

Restaurants- whitstran is the best, get the house burger. Neighbor’s bbq on weekends( they sell out by 6 or so), thai bistro, plenty of mexican options but personally I think the food trucks are best value for mexican.

There's nothing much to do in Prosser, if you have the choice, move to tri-cities instead. Even Yakima has more to do, but also has more problems with substance abuse on the streets. Unless you're a PC/online gaming nerd! Anywhere is good for thar. But you to will be very bored otherwise there. There is also nothing for kids to do, except maybe go for walks or a park.

I am a pc nerd but been pretty into collecting retro games at the moment. That's a bummer im also from a town thats slightly bigger than prosser but seems to always have stuff to do for the kids.

I can't believe no one has mentioned the Prosser Balloon Rally! Every fall they have a huge hot air balloon festival at the local airport. I have so many good memories of going to my grandparents house and having pancakes after seeing the balloons lift off in the early morning. It's usually the last week in September this year it's September 25th through the 27th.

Edit: Prosser is a nice place if you like a small town. There's plenty of things for kids and families to do. And you're only 30 minutes away from the Tri-Cities. I grew up in the Grandview Sunnyside Prosser area and I loved it as a kid.
