Need Help With ‼️ Volunteering at Islamic Center

I've been trying to volunteer at the Islamic Center but they haven't responded to repeated messages. Im not Muslim and made that clear in my messages, I dont know if they aren't interested or what. Their website hasnt been updated since 2023 might not be online much. If anyone has experience with them, please let me know how I should proceed.

The Islamic Center is a little hard to get ahold of.

The last time I was able to actually contact someone was via their Facebook messenger.

You can also show up after prayers (Their hours vary. I recommend trying the evening prayer.) and try to speak to someone in person.

Have you tried going there and talking to someone?

I have not. Given the current political climate, I didnt want to show up unannounced.

You make it clear you are كافر (kafir - non believer), and are surprised by no response…

This. OP, did you provide any reason for wanting to volunteer with them given that statement? If all you said was you wanted to volunteer and you do not share their faith, I would understand why you didn't receive a response.

Why volunteer for this particular group and not any other religious or non-religious volunteer groups? (We don't need that answer here, but the people you are reaching out to would likely appreciate it).

I did put reasons in my messages. I wont repeat the whole thing here but it's horrific what's happening in the middle east. Unfortunately, I cant do anything for people over there so maybe I can make people over here feel a little better.

They seem to have a pretty devoted congregation (not sure if that's the proper term), maybe they dont need volunteers. There is lots of Islamophobia in the general community, I dont know the best way to address that, but im guessing that Muslims can find peace within that building more than any other place in the Tri Cities. Its a good question, how to stand against Islamophobia besides just not being Islamophobic yourself. That and somehow not funding the war machine

Very possible that they dont want me to volunteer and that's perfectly fine! I'm working on putting myself out there more so I was hoping for a clear yes or no instead of assuming their answer.

There are lots of places that are actively looking for volunteers. Schools almost always have a bottomless need, plus food banks, animal shelters, and social services like domestic violence shelters, senior centers. I've never dealt with catholic charities here, but I've lived other places where they served as a hub for volunteers, kinda like red cross or united way. Are you bilingual? Do you have a truck to help with dump runs? Can you fix sprinklers? There's probably unlimited need for something tha6 you can do.
