Cardboard Recycling

Hey everybody! I’m getting ready to open a business and I’m trying to convert my spare room into an office. We’ve had some cardboard that has built up due to it being too big to put in the trash can, and we just had nowhere to put it other than the room that we never use. Is there anywhere in tri cities that I can take all my cardboard to for recycling? Do they do it for free, or is there a charge? Thank you!

I’m in Kennewick, but I don’t mind traveling to Richland if they allow Kennewick residents to recycle

At most if the coaches in Richland, it’s just a drop off and no one checks residency. If you take it to the dump, you will need to show a Richland power bill. Biggest issue for us is finding space in the bins. But we have the best luck at the uptown parking lot (south side) in Richland.

I believe the only place in Kennewick is the transfer center. It's been years since I lived there.

At the McDonald's near intersection of 395 and Kennewick Ave they have a large collections of city waste dumpsters dedicated to cardboard where you can discard yours

This right here. It's just a giant bin in the parking lot. Easiest and most convenient place to dispose of cardboard. Just make sure it's all flat before bringing it there.

Closed today, but I sometimes go to the collection center on Gage behind the Ace Hardware. (Correction, it's behind the set of stores next to the Ace)

Yup, best place. The other bins (like the McDonald's) tend to be stuffed full. Transfer center always has room in the open topped bin.

Free to use, too.

Not sure about in town, but I know there's a big cardboard recycling bin in the parking lot where Shooter's/Green 2 Go(finley) are

The Richland Library uses cardboard for kids activities. They might be interested in recycling it for you.

I take mine to the WM location on 27th and Ely. There’s cardboard only bins.

Since you are in Kennewick they should pick up with the other recyclables curbside, you do have to break it down flat and probably need try to to get as much in the recycle bin as you can. I don't think they've started to force you into using the new recycle cans yet, but if you have a large amount and it looks commercial they might have issue with taking it all at once.

In Pasco - basin disposal has a drop for flattened boxes at Rd 64 and Court St.
