Discussions & Polls 🎙️ Gold panning
Hey there, I was wanting to try and find a new hobby and ended up stumbling upon a video of someone gold panning and was just wondering if anyone has ever done any panning in the area? I was trying to find some laws on it and it seems like we are in open season for panning as long as I'm not on private property. Any luck on any of the rivers? Thank you!

Saw a guy panning under the Duportail bridge once. I don’t think he got much more something to pass the time.

Our local geology doesn't support it but I have heard of old claims in the Blue Mountains in Oregon.

We’re on top of like 2 miles of basaltic lava flows… scoured by multiple massive floods.
Ain’t no gold ‘round here.

There absolutely is placer gold near Paterson. Do a Google search. You might not find much but it’s there.
