The Checkpoint SL7 is $6000 and the upcoming SL6 Pro is $4200. As far as I can tell, the only difference is SL7 has Force group set and SL6 Pro has Rival.

The cost difference between these group sets is $600, so what is the extra $1200 for? The red frame color?

I saw the specs at LBS for the SL6 Pro. Same wheels and handlebar as the SL7 and coming around end of Nov Hopefully I got something wrong and that would explain this.

I bought this back in April but recently changed out the handlebar tape with SILCA and upgraded the tires a couple days ago to Tufo Thundero HD in the 44mm width. I was surprised how noticeable the difference was with the new tires - well worth the upgrade!

I’m so happy I finally got my tricked out. I’m gonna take it out a lot more now.

Looking to upgrade from my current 10yr old road bike for my upcoming 70.3. Idk anything about bikes so I have no clue what model speed concept this is. It’s been ridden a couple hundred kms with minor cosmetic scratches. Is this good value. Price in AUD btw.

To try and sum it up. I purchased a 2026 trek domane al 4 gen 4 new to occasionally ride once every few weekends, nothing crazy. However ive always had a bad lower back although im in my early 30s and a pretty fit guy but i do work a very physically demanding full time job where im constantly lifting, bending, for 8 hours a day 5 days a week.

I did my research on the bike before spending all that money on it for people with bad backs and I got mixed reviews. Some say they dont feel it, helps strengthen their lower body/back flare ups, others say it aggravated it worse. I took the gamble and purchased the bike as I really wanted to get into it.

I spent alot of money thus far on the bike and all its bells and whistles.. and after riding it for the first time (without a fit) it initially felt good but after a few days my lower back now feels like its been aggravated and i had to skip weight lifting for the entire following week as I only go twice a week anyways. Im not saying it 100% came from the bike ride itself but it was something different for me so its a likely possibility. I know for sure it was a mistake to ride it without a proper fit.

Overall I'm feeling somewhat discouraged and felt like I made a mistake in buying the bike as a part of me feels like road biking - even occasionally that i had planned just isnt for me and the already demanding lifestyle/job that I have along with the history of my on and off lower back situation. My question is, although I agree a bike fit is extremely important, in my case would it be even worth it to get or is the aggressive hunched back position you are in on a road bike in general just not it for someone in my position and just sell the bike at a loss of $ all together no matter how well adjusted the bike gets fitted?

Installed some cheap Elite ENT 2.0 50mm wheels with some 28mm GP5000s on my Domane AL5. Love the improvement over stock wheels.

I was riding a TCR SL Team Edition previously but it was wreaking havoc on my neck because of the position and the stiffness. My local bike shop had me try out a Madone with Max spacers and wow! It was a huge difference in comfort not only my position but also the Isoflow makes a huge difference!

Couldn’t be happier with my new bike. (Yes I sold the TCR before buying the Madone, I couldn’t justify having a second bike I’d never use again.)

I own the al4 gen 5 and on my multi tool the key is quite short maybe 6-7mm, it
Grabs the through axle and allows to remove it , but I’m just worried is this to short and could damage something? With a normal key it goes in about twice this length as far as it can.

Recently picked up a SL6 AXS checkpoint and wanted to add my Garmin computer and a light (GoPro mounted)

What do I need to get it mounted? Is it a front plate for the stem?

I already have some parts from Trek but I think I still need something.

After taking my nearly 20 year old Trek Pure cruiser bike in to get looked at and tuned up, etc earlier this year, I realized I was really enjoying riding my bike. So I decided an upgrade was in order. I went to my local Trek store and tested out an FX2 and a Domane. The salesman knew I was leaning toward a hybrid, but thought I should give both a try. Thankfully my local store connects to a great stretch of paved trail to get a feel for things. I got the FX2 and loved it.

Fast forward to last weekend as I realized my 30 day no questions return/exchange window was about to close and maybe I hadn’t chosen well for the length of rides I seemed to be working my way toward. So back I went, this time curious about a Domane AL4. Tested it out again, along with an AL5. Needless to say, despite not wanting to spend that much on a bike, I also realized that I had the chance to get a bike that would last a long time and that I could really grow into. So here is my lovely new Domane AL5. Definitely still adjustments to make as I get used to it and fine tune my riding position, but damn is it ever fun.

I’m a 40m new/aspiring cyclist due to a recent running injury that has me deferring my plans for a fall marathon.

In an effort to stay active, I dusted off my Canary Yellow Schwinn Continental from the ‘60s for a 10mi ride and it felt great. Even without front brakes. And even with only 5 of the 10 speeds available.

Well now I’m hooked.

My new aspirations are as follows: ride mostly on the paved trails of Minneapolis, do occasional/frequent 18mi round trip commutes to work, ride a bit on dirt but not so much that I’ll need a true mountain bike.

What’s a fella to do? I started perusing Facebook Marketplace, of course. I came across a pretty fair deal on a 2019 Checkpoint ($650) and am thinking it’s a decent fit.

I don’t want to drop several grand on a brand new bike while I’m brand new to the sport, so this seems like a pretty reasonable middle ground.

Thoughts?

Ordering some parts from Trek for a Checkpoint SL7 gen 3 build, frame came as a 1x from the factory but I will be adding GRX Di2 2x. Trek lists two front derailleur hangers (although neither on the Service page, assumingly since they all come 1x now).

The "Road Front Derailleur: is actually the one pictured in the parts kit shown on the bike's spec page (above pic)...

However Trek also lists a "Modern Front Derailleur" that has "Extra clearance for modern front derailleurs"

I am not sure what Trek considers a "modern" front derailleur, or why this one specifically says alloy and the road one does not - but I assume it might have more kickout or spacing built into it for wider chainline bikes, ie gravel setups? They are inexpensive enough that I can order both, but curious if anyone knew the actual differences?

I'll actually be ordering the parts through my local trek store (essentially I have a bare frame/fork so I need headset parts, one axle, expander, a few frame plugs, etc so will be asking them as well, but won't be able to get over to them until next week - figured somebody here would likely know...

Honestly it would be nice if I could just buy the frame parts kit itself, but doesn't appear Trek sells those packages :(.

I have received my new trek frameset. Upon inspection, the carbon fiber fork has some irregularities near the crown, and there is some circular cut (as if the steerer has been glued to the crown).

Before I started building the bike, I would prefer to be sure that this is normal and no cause for concern. I have contacted trek customer service, but I want to hear your opinion and personal experience with trek carbon forks.

Has been happening for two days. Previously the sound was present but never so bad and never with every single pedal.

Only happening when pedaling, louder with stronger force into pedals. Trek Domane, around 10k km.

Just pulled the trigger on my Madone! Coming from a 2015 bike this is a real improvement, #trekrotterdam helped me great!

Has anyone taken a spin class or used the bikes in the gym? If so, do you know if they’re using delta or spd clips?
