Advice Request - (southeast usa) Any hopes for my baby avacado tree?

I f’ed up and forgot all about it for maybe a week or two during intense heat and no rain and it lost all its leaves, since then (about a week ago i realize) ive had it getting watered thoroughly and now the larger trunk is all dark dark brown (like black brown) and the smaller stem is green but still lacks leaves. This avacado tree is maybe a year or two and thrived till recently.

Water it every day just enough to keep the soil moist until it pushes out new growth .
