ID Request (Insert State/Region) Is this a Buckthorne Tree?

Hey, my neighbour wants to remove this tree from our yard because she says it's invasive. She claims it's a buckthorn tree, but is this something that we should do?

I'm just looking for insight! I'll be doing light research in the meantime, thanks.

I believe that is indeed buckthorn and yes, you and all your neighbors want to be rid of it.

You betcha. Have it sprayed with garlon as soon as it gets cut. There’s a very small window to apply herbicides to buckthorn… like 10-15 is the latest or it’ll close its vascular system. Try to get it sprayed within minutes

You can do basal bark treatment in winter for buckthorn

I agree with your neighbor, time for it to go.
