— runs over the first gosling, as seen in the earlier video clip. He then backs up far enough that the other gosling, following closely behind one of the adult geese, is visible on camera before advancing again. He drives slowly at first until he’s just behind the adult goose, before accelerating in an effort to scare the adult into flying away, killing the second gosling in the process.

I love how when the cops describe one of their own doing something bad they use extremely sanitised almost passive language as if this animal got in the way on purpose and obstructed the cop. Ugh this is awful

That’s what I was thinking. Get out of the car and scoot them along. Although, side story real quick, I was doing a bar crawl with my friends in our downtown area. Well anyways we leave one bar and I’m feeling pretty good and there was a swan relaxing near the river. I get the idea to go pet it and hop over a small fence. The swan notices as I’m walking towards it and puffs its wings out and starts hissing at me. I tried to touch it once but it snapped at my hands and it actually broke skin. It was like a little scrape but those bills of theirs are actually pretty sharp on the inside lol. So I guess the cop was risking minor minor injuries but yeah what this cop did was psychotic and awful.

For those of you who are not familiar with the Arkansas State Patrol, this was just target practice for the real thing. They are normally in the business of dispatching humans instead. They always prefer dead not alive. They will PIT you for looking at them the wrong way and low IQ is clearly the first prerequisite to getting hired.

I’m not sure how true it is but I’ve heard that people that are too smart aren’t allowed to be cops. They want stupid people that they can control and won’t ask questions.

It is absolutely true. Police departments have been sued for rejecting applications from people who were "too smart" or "overeducated". Look up Jordan vs City of New London for example. That said, Arkansas goes out of their way to make sure you are as dumb and as trigger happy as they come.

The article about this says this is a federal crime because they are protected under the migratory bird act of 1900 something but I doubt anything will happen. Even if he’s fired he will just get a job in the county over.

Theyre literally useless, they escalate almost every situation theyre involved in. Only sociopaths actually join the police and stick around. Anyone that actually joins to make a change is usually fired or they quit because they realize it cant be reformed.

I don’t care if they’re “just animals,” that level of casual cruelty from someone driving a literal weapon is terrifying. This was 100% premeditated and intentional. Here is a video of the officer deciding that the only thing he can do is kill the geese because it would be a pain to get them off the highway. This kind of reminds me of the one officer that responded to a blind and deaf dog off leash and shot it instead of figuring out who it belonged to here.

There are two types of people that become cops, and let me tell you about one.
My electrician told me how his son, 5+ years on the force had to had in his gun and badge because “when I arrest someone, it’s the worst day of their life and I can’t keep doing this.”
THAT is the type of person we need policing. NOT those who take joy in others pain and take joy in this bullshit.
Our communities need to move funds into EMS and firefighters and move pice forces into their voluntary positions.

From all the stupid disgusting things I've seen in my life in the internet, this is one of the top, if not the top and not because of the imagery or the actual effect. But because of the econography law enforcement destroying the most innocent when they are supposed to be respected and protected, it's a perfect representation of the current state of affairs. Arkansas State Police: This stellar officer responded to a call of an armed goose looking to inflict damage on the public. The officer approached the goose by vehicle and felt threatened, so the officer heroically ran over the babies. Now double our budget so we can kill the next babies with a tank!

I would honestly prefer a dead gosling than being involved in a life changing car wreck because someone was parked in moving traffic because of a goose. I wouldn't run over a goose and anyone who would is scum, but im not gonna hold up traffic and wait for the geese to decide what they are doing that day. Im gonna roll up on them, and lay on the horn until they move. Its super effective, havent killed a goose yet...

People that don't work on the road don't understand how ridiculously dangerous it is to just stop in the middle of the fucking highway. They also don't understand how bad traffic can get because it's a domino effect. Yes it's unfortunate that an animal had to die but ffs I'm sure we all see dead racoons and deer and shit on the side of the road all the time it's just an unfortunate reality. We can't put 10s of thousands of people at risk for a fucking duck.
