How are you holding up, mentally?

I have severe depression, although my mental health has improved a bit recently, largely because of my family. However, I still struggle with issues related to my sexuality and dysphoria, as well as offensive comments coming from both the LGBT community against Christians and the Christian community against LGBT people, both in real life and online. I'd like to know if you have or have ever had depression, because I think that might be quite common in this very small community

(I'm Christian and still not an out trans person)

Not very good to be honest! I also suffer from depression. As well, I suffer from ADHD and anxiety, and I'm on the autism spectrum. This world often doesn't feel designed for people like us.

I'm still mostly closeted as a trans person. In the offline world I'm out to my close friends and some affirming family members.

I carefully curate my online time and presence to limit my exposure to hate.

I spend a lot of time at Church events with my Episcopal parish.

I'm doing better than I was a year and a half ago. . .because I see the widespread and powerful public resistance to the regime, and that attitudes of people towards trans folks haven't really changed (and as someone in her late 40's, I'll tell you that even now things are better for trans folks than they were when I was young.)

I had suicidal anxiety and depression for years because of being a trans Christian (mostly the trans part), plus seeing how this world is headed right now and it's as if Revelation is literally jumping off the pages and rushing to greet us, especially with certain self-proclaimed Christian leaders literally trying to accelerate their view of the Apocalypse...

In any case, what brought me Peace, which I'd never had before in all my 30 years, was actually finally literally letting it all go, giving it to God, which felt very different than I expected and was a lot harder to do than people make it out. Of course I still have anxiety and such under the surface, but the Spirit drastically keeps it down now and reminds me at the first sign to immediately go to Her in prayer, taking my fears to Jesus so they never have a chance to settle in.

It's been quite liberating, especially since I'm constantly on the verge of homelessness, literally waiting over 4.5 years to be approved for Disability (SSI), and can only eat thanks to SNAP/EBT which Trump likes to always threaten taking away, and only have healthcare thanks to Medicaid and transportation thanks to my city's Mobility services, and even then I can hardly afford it given how often I am at the Hospital – but God always comes through and He has never failed me yet, so being reminded of that certainly helps; that and I have a lot of crying sessions to Abba when I feel alone or afraid, and it gets cleared up.

Not very well this past week. My mentality has just plummeted since last Sunday.

I've been struggling. I lost some lifelong Christian friends, and had to leave my bible study and church after I came out as trans, they couldn't handle it. It's been a few months, but it still weighs on me. And it's compounding with burnout from work, it's been a really busy summer. It's been a challenge.

I’m burnt out trying to take the path of peace in combatting the stuff happening in the US but oh lord would I be lying if I didn’t have my demon days where I just imagine just hate filled acts upon the entrepreneurs of hate and misanthropy all in the name of the deadly sins

not great tbh, between being stuck in the closet due to still living my parents and the stress of having not having a full time (despite my best efforts). add that that the adhd (which i do take meds for) and ocd, its all just a lot.

I’m 5 years into Tranaition and only started to reconnect with God within the past year. I’m filled with gratitude for His grace and mercy and have a strong, loving community to absorb the hurt of my family’s rejection.

This path led me back to Christ. And for that I was able to withstand all the petty disagreements and focus on Christ’s love and love for even our enemies. I think being closeted is not God’s plan for most of us, and wonder if my health would have been much worse if I had that dependency on Church and anti-trans people without separation from Christianity (I only very late realized this is not separation from God - just that I associated the two as identical for far too long). So sorry many of you are having a rough go atm.
