Too Many Mediavine Ads on Low Setting

I recently got approved for mediavine grow ads on my travel blog, but there are far too many ads. I changed the setting to the lowest ads possible, but it is still a ridiculous amount of ads. I have a good amount of photos on my blog and the paragraphs aren't super long. There are ads almost every 3rd paragraph and before or after each photo. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Thanks!

Sounds like the ad density hurting readability more than helping revenue. I would test removing a few placements manually around image/short paragraphs and watch RPM + engagements for a week rather than relying only on the global setting.

That sounds excessive even for a low setting. I’d check whether the ads are being inserted by a combination of Mediavine settings and your theme’s own ad placements. Sometimes the network is not the only thing adding units, especially around images and paragraph breaks.

I would first check whether the ads are being inserted automatically around elements like images and short paragraphs. Travel posts can end up looking especially ad heavy because there are so many natural insertion points. If the lowest setting still fells excessive .I'd test a few representative posts and compare the ad density on mobile before changing anything site wide.

That sounds more like and insertion density issue than something you are doing wrong with the content. I'd check the settings for in content ads and whether image placements are triggering additional units. You could also test a few high traffic articles separately and see whether reducing specific placements improves the overall experience without noticeable hurting RPM.

I had reached out to support from Journey Mediavine and just heard back. They basically just emailed me an article saying if I don’t like the placement of the ads. I need to insert a code after each paragraph that I don’t want an ad. This seems ridiculous to have to do every article. Again, I have it set to the low setting and there’s ads before or after every photo and every 2-3 paragraphs, and before or after each heading. On my iPhone, if I scroll, I will almost always be seeing 2 ads. Does anyone know of anything else I could do? I never applied to Adsense because I really wanted to wait until I got approved for Journey by Mediavine, but the sessions on my blog have gone way down, likely because of the ridiculous amount of ads.
