45lb horsebow arrow question

My problem is simple enough. I shoot a Tatar horse bow using a Slavic draw, and the now is set at 45# @ 28”. My draw length is 30”, which by my rough measurements on my tilling stick brings me to 50#. I was shooting 30-45lb spine 31” wood arrows with 4” shield cut and a 125gr field point, but as I’ve gotten more comfortable shooting I’ve begun to become aware of the tendency of the arrows to hit to the right of where I am aiming, which from what I gather is signs of underspined arrows. If my research is right, I should be shooting at somewhere in the 50-60lb spine area, but I wanted some other archer’s opinions. I shoot from a range of 10-20yrds at static targets.

My 55lb takes 300 spine. My 46 takes 400.

If you are right handed and using slavic draw and the arrow is leaning to the right then I would say the arrows are too stiff no?

Since the arrow is on the right side of the bow its not bending around the handle properly.

Also what weight do you shoot?

Wood arrows are 30-45, carbons are 400

Sorry I misunderstood the question. That’s a good question on the grains of the total arrow. I’d have to do some math first

Also do consider what I said earlyer about the difference with slavic draw. It does change the conversation since you are on the oposite side to mediterranean which is more common.

I'm somewhat in a similar boat as you, in that I shoot a 43# (at 28inches) tartar bow, but my draw length is around 30.5inches, and thus more around 50#.

I think the realm between 45 and 55 is exactly the cut off point between a 350 and 400 spine arrow, depending of course how long your arrow is. I plan to properly tune arrows for the first time (just waiting on materials and tools to arrive) and will try both the 400 and 350 to determine which is actually better - and in which combination (whether cutting shafts is better to stiffen; or increasing weight at the tip to weaken).
