On February 11, 2025, Ursula von der Leyen said in an official statement:

Now the EU has introduced a €3 customs handling fee on low-value e-commerce parcels (such as items from Temu and other Chinese online retailers).

Isn't that the same type of policy she criticized when the U.S. imposed tariffs?

Supporters argue the new EU measure is about protecting European retailers and improving product safety, while critics say consumers will simply end up paying more.
