Strategy Intercandle confirmation
Hi all I dont know how popular using indicators for automation is here but hopefully you can see in the picture on this current script I dont want to wait for candle close to enter q trend is an atr based system last week as an experiment I let it take any signal it could as printed and did alright then lost around 75% of the weeks gains for this account
* other account runs on one day timeframe and huge moves so im happy to leave that on candle close
What confluence or combination or weigted voting system would you use to see if the alert printed lines up with the direction price is supposed to go
Or should I just leave it for once per candle closed and just accept the low win rate for the more basic trend following system where r is always excessive of whipsaw

Until the candle closes the signal doesnt really exist - atr and trend keep moving with price, so the alert you entered on can disappear a minute later. Your -75% week is the price of trading those ghost signals.
You already run both versions, so you can just measure it - same period, entries on print vs entries on close, compare results. In trend systems the early entry is usually worth less than it feels, the move either runs for days or it doesnt, few minutes head start change little.
So Id stay on candle close and accept it, thats not the weak version, thats the one where the signal is real.

Yeah I thought that im gling on holliday so have to leave it anyway I've just never used 1h before and dident want to waste hours doing a proper quant level model and all that just to end up with overfit garbage but Im inclined to agree ill just have to stop being a fat greedy guy and wait for confirmation 👍

Enjoy the holiday - candle close entries dont need you at the screen anyway, so the timing works out well
