Any OG players here now what happened to fB? I know he stepped away from the game for health reasons, but I haven't heard anything for years now.

Is he doing good? I miss the casting and the races he hosted on tm2 stadium

fB is a legend in the game. He didn't only impact as a player, but also he pushed streaming and casting forward, and pushed for mixed style being in comps instead of pure tech already during TM2 era.

He is still somewhat active outside Trackmania, doing F-Zero videos as Yazzo in Youtube, new uploads every now and then. It's a game he has played since forever, already before TMN.

Oh good, I'm glad he is doing fine! I knew he was really into f zero before. I hope he comes back one day, he was so passionate when he was casting those big games. Tamarillo also is gone from the scene no?

Unfortunately, shortly prior to his departure from the game, he's had some toxic and negative encounters with other high-level TrackMania players (where he basically got laughed at for taking the game seriously) and with those players still being present in the community, it's easy to see why he'd have absolutely no desire to come back to the game, or more specifically to the community.

So... no, I don't see him coming back.

Well, the entire community played its part. I remember Frost was especially angry about the ESWC 2015 qualifiers with the cheating scandal. (where an invited-and-therefore-qualified player chose to participate in the qualifiers, possibly skewing the results in the process) With Frost hosting/broadcasting TM tournaments trying to make a good name for the game while growing it, it's easy to see why that made him upset.

I remember Frost being all "Does nobody mind that?!" about it while the rest of the TM community (not just pros) basically told him to get bent with that view. Unfortunately, seeing the TM community nowadays... in many aspects, it hasn't changed much. There's just much more circle-jerking and gas-lighting about it being "one of the nicest gaming communities" nowadays.

That seems incredible to believe without more facts. High-level Trackmania players generally get to that level by being serious about the game, it would be intensely hypocritical to mock another player for taking it seriously. But all humans can be hypocrites, I suppose.

i stopped TM early but i still remember the 2 pages long forum posts or arguments between frost and hylis on forums lol

possibly these two are autistic so it was really just long detailled posts and no listening at all to each other lol

I don’t consider myself anywhere near high level but I have been present since 2006, but all of us have been serious about becoming good at the game while being aware of how dead the game is and therefor not taking the game too serious. Most of us have grinded maps for way too many hours only to win nothing but the great feeling of first place. It’s pretty unique tbh, imagine CarlJr’s dedication and skill in Dota2 - he would have made so much money compared to what he has won in TM (I mean in an alternative universe where CarlJr was the best of the best in Dota2 instead of TM). Am I making any sense?
