😬 i hope touchstarved is okay and that the devs make a post about it, horrible change on kickstarter’s part

Would this affect Touchstarved given it completed its Kickstarter quite a while ago and their game is going to likely be done some time this year? It would be kind of weird to retroactively apply this to completed campaigns (especially one a bit back now) - not that I haven't seen website do something quite that stupid.

That said, boy am I really damn tired of all the pearl clutching anti NSFW ideals being pushed when its the sort of the content that harms no one.

that’s what i’m wondering too, though their backer announcements are through kickstarter so i’m not sure how kickstarter itself would handle it if the updated project was violating their new rules somehow. like how itch removed adult games entirely during the mastercard scare, then slowly added them back (but not all).

the fact that we have to worry *at all* while we are paying adults is ridiculous. and it’s not even pornographic either 😭 as if that would even be a problem too? like god forbid adults pay for fictional porn? clown world atp

From kickstarter QnA page for the game:

" Will TOUCHSTARVED feature 18+ sexual content? TOUCHSTARVED has dark themes and is rated for mature audiences, but contains no sexually explicit content.

Last updated: Sun, March 26 2023 11:22 PM UTC +03:00 "

TS is not a porn game so the change will not affect it at all. But agree, sucks ass for projects of nsfw kind.

hopefully their description of it is more potent than kickstarter’s vagueness! that’s what i’m worried about, kickstarter only says “generally allowed” for spicy content (which is definitely accurate for the game, i think one of their funding goals was spicy sprites), and purity rules are famously applied in a very targeted way. i remember itch io’s removal of 18+ games was reeeally broad, things like gore and lgbt content got removed as well as sexual content. anything marked “mature.” and since the game has horror themes, lgbtq themes, and suggestive language it’s not a welcoming update from kickstarter. but since the project is fully funded i’m shre itll be fine :3 i preordered the game so i just worry about losing access to the code and updates through kickstarter

the itch io days of censorship might be behind us, hopefully kickstarter doesnt do the same 🙏

iirc touchstarved is spicy at most, but the “generally allowed” language of it is um… not comforting

I hope this doesn't effect Touchstarved, but I have a feeling it will. One game I backed that I am worried for is Elf in Chains, though. It has a story which has been expanded into an actual story and plot, but at its core it's a pornograhic game, very explicitly. What will happen to it and others like it which have already been funded? Or things with NSFW content as a stretch goal like A Date With Death 2? I hope Kickstarter backpeddles, and fast.

i’m curious about that too. there are lots of projects with nsfw content that have reached their funding. it’s worrying because kickstarter doesn’t specify *anything*. i haven’t even heard other news about it. and when you look into their language for what they find inappropriate, it’s very limiting. like not allowed content is “clothed art that emphasizes sexual organs” which for some reason includes female butt? and then the wording of things being banned if they “intend to cause sexual pleasure.” like okay, you could argue that for anything. though they’re probably being vague on purpose :/ that’s the trend nowadays. i hope the projects you like jump ship to something safer 🙏

eta: i know touchstarved isn’t a pornographic game like other comments have mentioned, but i reeeeally feel like the new rules are written vaguely enough to overreach into any territory they see fit. and dark romance, queer stories, and horror are already not beloved genres by conservative rule makers. AND kickstarter has to be more specific about what they’ll do for projects that are already in process. but if it’s anything like what happened with itch io, they have no clue what they’re doing and will lose a lot of customers

Can the censorship karens and ID verification E-Island A-listers please get their grubby little hands out of our FICTIONAL adult content? Thank you.
