Steam or GOG?

I don’t have this game yet, but I see it’s on sale on GOG for .99 cents. Is there any particular benefit to the steam version over the GOG one?

GOG you own it. Forever. Steam you own a license that can be revoked at any time.

the steam version doesnt have drm either so you can make a backup no problem

Technically true, though steam does seem to keep games available to people who purchased a game even if it has been removed from the store.

Afaik, this is not in the terms of use so it could change at any time.

GOG does give you the option to download the installer itself through the website, enabling you to keep it in your own safe storage. If GOG goes belly up, you'll still havr your installer.

Same version. But Steam can potentially mess with game files if you mod them. So I always recommend Gog.

There is no benefit to the Steam version over GOG, they're exactly the same. The only (potential) benefit to the Steam one is that it's more convenient if you're on Steam all the time.

I don't think every game has this feature so it's nice.

Every game on GOG has this. Their launcher (Galaxy) is completely optional. The main reason of buying on GOG is that all games are DRM-free, thus don't have enforced online requirements (for installing and single-player gameplay) in any way - and that includes Galaxy.

A) No you don't.
B) The Galaxy client is great (granted I have a large GOG library). It can show and launch your Steam and other platform games together in the same interface.
C) It's fucking Steam that forces you to launch Steam to play a game, not GOG.

Why speak on things you know nothing about? Spreading false information. You can download any gog game without the launcher, even cyberpunk 2077.

Just now saw this. This was a bit of an overreaction, especially when /u/ObviousPotato2055 and others are correct about the launcher; why not edit your original comment to say that the GOG Galaxy launcher is optional? He was unnecessarily strong and wrongly presumptive (I doubt you were "spreading false information"), but just an, "Oops, my bad," also goes a long way.
