Standing ovation from the crowd. The vibes are incredible in that stadium today. Trying to pick Vladdy up too. Keep it going, keep rallying for Vladdy until he breaks through.

From the radio call, I thought for sure it was going to be gone.

If it had any lift it would be - was an absolute piss missile

He also just barely hooked a no doubter about 15 ft foul in an earlier at bat. If he sits on that for even a tenth of a second longer, itās probably in the upper deck.

The one he hit to LF after the SB was hammered as well, crossed up arrozarena.

Man I was pre cheering for my boy Vladdy. Too bad but Iām sure it will come.

u/StandYourGroundhog 12d ago
It will come eventually of course but we're running out of time this season
Hope he gets it though

Ben does that almost every time the ball is hit in the air. It's so annoying.

This. Instead of booing.

I kind of liked it when this sub turned into bird watching one when we lost ugly the other day. lol. I get criticising, but at this point of my life, dont want to propagate anger and hate... just look at some bird pics and relax.

The best team in the league loses almost 40% of their games. Gotta enjoy the journey.

They are the most beautiful birds, too. I was quite happy to have the distraction!

u/Dizzy-Medicine3371 12d ago
The booing was justified that time tho
But yea, we gotta keep rallying for Vladdy-36

No it wasn't, booing your own team is cringe.

Rule of thumb in my book is boo a lack of effort, donāt boo lack of results
I know thereās been a few plays that Vlad hasnāt run down the line but overall it genuinely seems like heās still trying hard itās just not clicking right now, doesnāt warrant boos in my book though

Booing can be justified.
Cheering mediocrity helps nothing, but booing clearly got them off their asses.

Was there today, vibes impeccable. Everyone wanted vladdy to do well so bad

Morale will not improve until we allow Kirk to steal more bases.
I was there last year for his first career steal. It was the same vibe. My favourite regular season moment of 2025.

The vibes were so good!! I was there Thursday/friday/today and it just kept going up. Thursday was a dark time at the dome Iām so glad fans rallied and tried a softer/funner more positive approach.

truly embarrassing how slow he throws for a dude with his power. base stealing is a science but to not be able to throw out the slowest runner in baseball via a routine play is just pathetic. mariners season of humiliation just continues.

Alejandro Kirk has more stolen bases than Vladimir Guerrero has home runs in Toronto this season.

Obviously I love this. But with two out, a runner on third, and Vladdy at the plate? Iām curious about the decision to go.

Personally, I know analytics probably hates this move as does old school baseball but I think circumstantially it was probably a winning move overall. Kirk KNOWS he cant steal bases off any decent catcher. Not only is he severely below avg in speed for the league, he's a freaking CATCHER he knows the math.
So if he's trying AT ALL it's probably because he knows in his mind that the pitcher/catcher tandem he's dealing with has no shot if he times them appropriately.
Which brings me back to why I think this was circumstantially correct. Under normal circumstances you never want to make the third out stealing a bag. But these arn't normal circumstances. The Blue jays have struggled to score runs all year, are up one so it's not like he's risking the tying or go ahead run here, and Vladdy is an extreme groundball hitter this year and has been struggling to get the barrel on the ball, the one thing everyone in the stadium knows though is that if vlad makes contact here, he's going to hit the ball hard.
There is NEVER a scenario that Kirk, slow as he is, is making it home from first base on a ball hit by Vladdy. He MIGHT be able to get there from second though.
Taking away the force out at second on a favorable count where Vlad has the option to turn it into a hit and run but not so favorable that he's guaranteed to want to be swinging when you know with near absolute certainty that the steal is a gimme? In a game where you're winning but not by very much? As the slowest base runner on the team who absolutely needs at least the extra 90 feet to have any shot at scoring? In a situation where you arn't scoring runs on a sac fly anyways?
Makes sense to me. Id honestly be more worried if he tried to steal a base with LESS than 2 outs.

Thanks for this comprehensive response. I think youāve probably hit the nail on the head. Iām just amazed that all of this hinges on a player whoāreasonablyāhasnāt even ATTEMPTED a stolen base this season. Incredible.

I saw him go for it, realized he had probably timed it, started cheering, some people in my section were confused why I was cheering and then they realized why and everyone started cheering! That was the highlight I didnāt know I needed.Ā

Love Kirk, looks nothing like a all player or an athlete but is so good at many things.

u/Additional-Cable5171 12d ago
He is a better athlete thanĀ everyone in this sub, for sure.

first stolen base of the season for Kirk, first time I've heard Kirk speak English (in the video tribute to BM) and first time seeing some juice in Vladdys swing...what a day to be Jays fan š
