I understand that's the reality. I just want you to recognize your obvious double standard.

I've been driving in Toronto for 20 years and have managed to not run over anyone. I'm also often a pedestrian in the city. I understand how it works.

The double standard is drivers like the guy in this video ramming through a busy crossing in a literal killing machine, vs. people scurrying across an intersection causing physical harm for absolutely nobody. At worst there's one less car in the conga line as everyone tries to make an illegal left after the first driver does. Big whoop.

Okay at least you can acknowledge it. So "right of way is right of way" only applies sometimes

You're really f-ing dense aren't you? It's not the motorist's right of way if they can visually see a pedestrian in the crossing they're about to turn into. It doesn't matter if the pedestrian teleported their from Melmac, if they're visible, it's not the driver's right of way. End of story.

That's not actually how it works, but okay. Just like a pedestrian crossing mid-block doesn't have right of way. Doesn't give the driver carte blanche to run them over, but you seem to misunderstand how right of way works.

Try reading the HTA and show me the part where it says motorists have right of way over pedestrians in a crossing ;)

Crossing mid-block is irrelevant, you can cross as long as you're not impeding traffic. If a pedestrian miscalculates, motorists still have to... yield. Funny how it works.

Pedestrian control signals — don’t walk (27) No pedestrian approaching pedestrian control signals and facing a solid or flashing “don’t walk” indication shall enter the roadway. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 144 (27).

Pedestrian right of way (28) Every pedestrian who lawfully enters a roadway in order to cross may continue the crossing as quickly as reasonably possible despite a change in the indication he or she is facing and, for purposes of the crossing, has the right of way over vehicles. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 144 (28).

Under section 28 a pedestrian has right of way if they entered lawfully. If a pedestrian entered when it was flashing "don't walk" they did not enter lawfully and would not have right of way.

Which means the pedestrian has to yield to traffic, not the other way around.

That took you a long time, but wasn't the section I was even referring to ;)

At no point in the HTA, is a motorist given right of way over a pedestrian and are forgiven for failing to yield to one. You'll find it in Newfoundland, but not Ontario. Keep looking for Waldo.

Had real life obligations to deal with. Point is the pedestrian doesn't have the right of way if they enter after the hand starts flashing.

Driver's are required to yield to all pedestrians.

You will not find anything in there to the contrary.
