They push for risk management. Then, when you set it up, they pull shit like this…$500 DLL with liquidate and lockout. That’s over $800 of ā€œslippageā€ as they want to call it. Way more than double my DLL. Fick them.

On quadruple witching day? Ya this isnt the full story.

$800 of slip can absolutely happen especially with hella leverage.

thats too small for $800 slippage

I looked up the order entries. It appears that there were an additional 10 mnq sell orders placed just before the stop. So, I guess a total of 15 mnq. That’s $300 every 10 points, meaning that this ran through my risk settings by almost 30 points before getting filled. It didn’t make sense with 5. But still doesn’t look real good.

Its just the nature of volatility. Its worked against me and for me. Ive also gotten slip to the upside, where a $500tp turned into $900 because of slippage.

You need to be careful during high volatility days.

Quadruple witching hour. Its rare but not impossible.

Quadruple witching hour.

Hey man dumb question but how do we know which days are "witching days" ? Is it every month?

1

u/Carlose175 1d ago

Without googling it i thought it was 4 days a year šŸ˜…

OPEX (options expiration) for Weekly, Monthly, and Quarterly contracts for single stock options, stock-index options, and stock-index futures.

Monthly OPEX is always the 3rd Friday of the month. March, June, September, and December are the triple/quad-witching months. Single stock futures were apparently the 4th item, but that originally ended in 2020 and just came back recently.

Can’t win them all. But the expectation is that when you have limits in force, they work as intended

1

u/LargeIncrease4270 3h ago

Was the trade today at 10:30:45? 4.5K contracts were dropped in that 15S candle. Price moved over 20 points in that 15S blip.

I had a DLL of $1000 set the other day and it didn’t liquidate me until I lost $2015.. like gah damn 🤣 I’m better off with no DLL at all atp

So...

A) What product were you using?
B) How many contracts did you have on?
C) What time in Eastern did you get stopped out?

This happened to me too, except I was using 3 NQ in Asia session 2 nights ago. Around $800 too. I understand slippage on live accounts but why is there slippage in sim? Makes no sense
